Billy's W124 Coupe Project

I agree with Nik, I rather like the wiper blades, I think it gives the W124 the air of reserved quality, just like it did on the C126 and W201's.

Another point with the headlight wipers is that they only work when the headlights are on and you wash wipe the screen . A big problem is that the headlight washers don't squirt and therefore the blades don't clean the lenses and through lack of the washer fluid lubricating the blade they dry out and become brittle and jagged.

AMG Kit is on!

With the momentum carrying on from Saturday's job, gave a couple of my mates a late call Sunday afternoon as i was twiddling my thumbs to help me put the Amg kit on the car. Really was a straight forward job and fitted it without the use of a jack. They are regular visitors on here so cheers for the help chaps she's looking great!

I have the AMG square exaust tips to go on to finish the look, so will need to modify the existing Sebring back box, or get a custom box made from a good outfit and ask them to weld the tips on to it.

Few more shots emphasizing the Sebring back box. Personally i don't think the round tips look bad at all. What do you guys think... Square or round?

The kit looks good mate, its pretty easy to put on. Only crap thing is taking off the front claddings to screw in the front of the sideskirts, a fear of breaking the clips.

I'll be honest with you though, im not feeling the orange indicators and standard back lights with the kit on now - personal opinion but dont know if your going to go with clears up front and clear/red on the back?

Go with the square tips.

Sorry mate the amber's are staying!!

Original's always good :)

CKS can modify your backbox and put on the tips for you exactly how you want it, they'll do a good job too. Speak to Chets, he got his guy to straighten and extend the AMG tips on my backbox.

Round are bad on a 124's unless they kick up and are cut off at an angle like the Braubus cars.

Hi Billy........just wanted to say that the car is looking great.
You have done an amazing job on it mate congrats....:thumb:

Looking very nice....
Camber not that noticeable ;)

Looks awesome billy.

What are you going to do next with all your time and money now that the cars almost finished - or are there more upgrades afoot?!

Hey Billy

Car looking sick man!!

you got plans to slam it bruv?

excellent work

mazza

Thanks for the positives chaps, appreciate it. Few ends to tie up, like the exhaust tips and wire up the driving lamps on the front bumper. The lamps came with the extension bits to hook up to the main headlights so should be a piece of cake.

As for the project, it ain't over just yet oh no. Still needs the interior sorted for the leccy memory and heated seats + various other interior mods and the all important paint job to finish it all off. Infact thinking of it there's a lot more but time will reveal. :)

nice!

needs a photo shoot..I might know the man for the job

must include on the move images

cheers

I'm thinking of going one nib lower at the back with the spring cups it's on 3 burls at the moment. Not that noticeable in the pics but when car is on completely flat ground it's sitting a tad higher than i'd like at the rear. I think the 235/40 Vs. the 215/40 up front has a little part to play as the side wall @ the rear is slightly bigger. I like the 235/40 wrapped around the 9J's though. Then again i'm thinking a 225/40 at the back may look better but its a fine line perhaps giving too much stretch.

The rear should sit higher by a little bit, looks better that way too.

Do you have electric fans...??

I see your point W, the whole task of lowering the car was to get the right stance together with ensuring good handling at the same time. Because of this, to get it sitting correctly and from a visual, it does need that slight adjustment to get it 'right'.

Whats these electric fans you mention?

Up the front by the radiator...

Ah, no leccy fans up front, they are for AC/electronic climate control aren't they? my car has no AC.

In the midst of all things retrofitting even i thought this was a step too far. I did contemplate shifting the A/C out of the donor though, but too much of a job involved.

Looking great Billy, loving how well it has all gelled together! Top job!
