I've ordered 4 new tyres, Michelin Primacy HP's. Two of the tyres arrived today and I'm expecting the other two to hopefully arrive tommorrow.

As the wheels could do with a refurb, I thought it would be best to get the alloys done and new tyres fitted at the same time.

Been digging around these forums and came across BVJ Engineering. They fairly local, about 20 miles away, and as I don't have spare wheels, I would have to leave the car there for several days.

Are BVJ reliable? And can I leave my car there safely?

I've asked them to provide a quote so not sure what it'll cost but they appear to offer a good service and finish, from the little I've read here.

Anything to watch out for? Or recommendations..

thanks all

I've used BJV several times and they've always done a good job. I've never left my car with them though, just dropped the wheels off and collected them when ready.

Good to hear a recommendation for BJV.

How long did it take for the wheels to be refurbed?

Unfortunately, I don't have any spare wheels or donor wheels I can put on the car, so it will have to be a leave-the-car-there type job.

Is it possible to rent or hire some wheels from anywhere? or from anyone on this forum?

went there when I contemplated getting my alloys done (finally sold them as was) they know there stuff and would have been more than happy for them to do the alloy wheel refurbishment as they gave a good price. journeys a bit of a mission; small country lanes etc but worth it

I need to get the rims of my wheels sorted out. Kerbing. (Obviously not me but my delightful wife (just in case she reads this!))

They are Diamond cut so I'm guessing, or hoping, that the rims can be "skimmed"?

They do look a very good set up and I'll be interested to see the job they do.

BJV have done loads for me. Brabus , AMG , BBS , MB.

Great service and friendly and approachable too.

Thanks all, that's interesting and very good feedback. So clearly, they know what they're doing, good service and you guys are happy with the finish - exactly what I wanted to hear.

Anyone know the turnaround times (need to arrange time off work or work-from-home-days)?
Also, what kind of price should I expect to pay? (still waiting for a firm price from them)

I have the basic wheels, not the sporty type, but since I'm a cruiser and not a boy-racer, I really like them.

Here's a link to the wheels I have on:

18" Mercedes 9 Spoke wheels in Sterling Silver - Alloy Wheels Direct (89630)

I'll take some before and after shots when the weather is better and put them up.

Oh, one more thing - I looked them up on the map and you're right, it is all country roads, etc but is the place safe to leave the car for several days?

thanks again

The place is safe. I've been there a couple of times.

The track leading to it is a different story though , proper off road nightmare last time I was there. Maybe they've had it Tarmac'd by now , I don't know.

When I was driving there the first time , I was thinking 'this can't be right , where the hell am I ?' Lol

Speak to them about turnaround , sometimes if they are quiet it can be a couple of days , if they are busy , maybe a week.

Just got a reply from BJV. Its £264 inc VAT for the set of 4.

Regarding the safe storage, response was "vehicles are stored in a secure unit on 4 post ramps, there are no windows into the unit".

Its around 3-4 days turnaround time.

Just waiting for my rear tyres and then hopefully its off to BJV. Fingers crossed.

Actually, they quoted two prices, £264 for standard silver and also a premium service, which costs £312 where:

"we endevour to remove any imperfections within the finish, paint and lacquer the inside of the wheels and remove the paint from the back of the wheel hubs".

Is the premium service worth doing? I know its only an extra £48 but is there a marked difference if I'm not going to see part of the wheel that's not on show?

Or does it prolong the life of the wheel?

Thoughts...

Rear tyres just arrived, rang up BVJ and booked a slot for first thing Mon morning.
Fingers crossed, should be ready by Wed.

Let's see how they look after the finish.

Dropped the car off this morning to BVJ, hoping to pick up on Wed if the paint comes off first time.

It was a 1.2 mile walk to the bus stop for my return journey, asked for directions and the chap gave me a lift there!

Can't beat good old fashioned service.

Picked up the car and I gotta say, the wheels look good.

First time ever I've had wheels refurbed and I'm pleased.

Will try to post pics later.

Thumbs up for BVJ and a quick turnaround too.

Here are the pics. I asked BVJ to take some pics before putting the tyres on:

Hi,

What service did you go for in the end, standard or premium?

Thanks

Were they powder coated or just painted? I'm getting my 20" set done on Monday (powder coated), wonder if just painting will be significantly cheaper though... been quoted £70 + VAT per wheel...
