I have almost finished preparing my car for the Black Gloss and lacqured AMG III's to complete 'stealth' look, wheels should be ready middle of next week. All the badges have been sprayed flat black. Question is what do i do about the exhaust tips as they are the only bits of chrome now left on the car?

Do i spray and lacquer them black? or;

Do i leave them chrome?

Comments most welcome thanks.

Its a difficult decision as both would look good but I'd leave them chrome.

I don't know how they do it, but the black chrome on the Ultimate Edition Aston Martin Vanquishes is what you want.

Carbon fiber?

Thanks. Now there's an idea - could try wrapping them in CF and lacquering. Not sure how they would hold up to the heat - melt into a black glob. I have some spare will go out to the car and sellotape piece round and see what it looks like.

Heres a couple of pics of CF wrapped round tip. Not sure.

If you could get that CF not to melt, I think that would look pretty awesome :)

The black chrome style does look cool too though:

I would personally leave chrome but that black chrome style in Inkysin's post could go well with your stealth setup.

Thanks. Unfortunately CF not able to withstand heat and bubbles, so quickly removed and that was only after a couple of minutes running the engine.

Those black chrome tips look the business though, would need to take my car back into Longlife and get them to drop the back end so i could do the job properly. Might get bodyshop to knock me up some HT paint - small amount of black loads of lacquer to test whether could get same effect - or check cost of new black chrome tips as i don't like those bolt-on ones.

Thanks for the pic. Really shows the black chrome well.

Would powder coating suit? Or maybe high temperature paint (if you can get in black)?

Thanks. Maybe i should have put them in the bodyshop along with my wheels and had done at the same time. Will check with Colin on Monday morning.
