Black Series - What does it say on your V5C?

I've just had a look at the V5 which arrived recently for my C63 Black Series and it seemed strange that under Model, it simply said "C63 AMG EDITION 125 AUTO". Firstly, I didn't even realise the Black came as an Edition 125 but more importantly, why is there no mention of Black Series anywhere? Is the Black Series simply an option available for the normal C63 or is it a model in its own right? I've raised this with the dealer who has asked me to send the V5 back and they will see if it can be changed. But I'm curious to know what other Black Series owners have on their V5.

DVLA computers says "NO"...

Seriously the Log book model is hardly ever accurate down to the trim level.
Given that its not an every day car its unlikely they would even have black series as an option.

DVLA arent that accurate or detailed

i have a (pearl) blue car that they describe as silver this is not uncommon

:dk:

and another for that - My last car was officially an SL55 AMG - the V5 said it was an S55L AMG. I told them, but they weren't really interested

I'm not really that concerned myself but since the BS is almost double the price of a standard C63 I thought the person I sold it to may worry that I'm selling him/her a fake

I'll wait and see how the dealer gets on with DVLA.

My c63 black serious just states c63 amg auto on the v5 i was told by the dealer when i ordered it the v5 would show c63 black series.

The VIN will give the complete spec of the car, so as long as the VIN agrees with that on the car does it really matter what the V5 describes the car as?

My car is known just as 'Mercedes'. Not even a model designation....

Used to have a Vectra Diesel SRi which was described on the V5 a an SRi 120 when in fact it was a 150bhp model which was three insurance groups higher!

Who was I to argue?? :D

Well it sounds as though they're all like that then. I'm curious to see how the V5 comes back once the dealer has finished talking to DVLA.

My Log Book says:

CLK63 AMG Black Series

It sounds to me like how the register the car in the first place.

That's much more like what I would expect. I have always understood the Black Series to be a separate model rather than an optional upgrade to an existing model.

You can ask for it to be amended... be prepared for lots of red tape.

What they actually cut the error out and stick the correct letters in with red tape?

The Black Series is considered by MB as a package when you order your car.

If you have a look at your invoice you should find that you ordered a C63 AMG Coupe' with DS1 option which is the Black Series package...I guess that's the reason of what you are seeing on the V5.

Strange tho it comes out as Edition 125, would have expected just C63 AMG

Just to let you guys know, just before Christmas I received my revised V5 and it now states "Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Auto" so I'm happy. It's great that the dealer went to the trouble to get it changed.

Any photos, or have I missed them Greg?

Time to contact the dvla and request the same.

My dealer got MB UK to write a letter confirming the fact that the car should be called a Black Series and this was sent off together with my V5 to DVLA. So I suspect you should take this up with your dealer rather than go directly to DVLA. If needed, my dealer was MB Stockport and the salesman is Paul Hodkin. Good luck guys!
