black smoke from exhaust

helle people this is the first time i have ever joined a forum but have read posts on them before as i have found some very usefull . i am having black smoke coming from my exhaust when i put the accelarotor down either in nuetral or whilst driving away . i have noticed that a large rubber pipe to the rite side of my engine has a split in it . i am going to tape it up tomorow to see if this solves the problem just for now as it will be sunday and will get a new hose on monday . if any onw eould have any ideas on the matter i would apreciate it . thanks

Hi, the split in the turbo boost hose is the cause of your excessive smoke, taping it up might serve as a temporary fix but make sure you renew the hose asap.

hi. thanks fot your reply . wasnt expecting one that quick . i will tape it up and hopfull that will solve my problem and will order a new one straight away . thank you very much

sealing the split in the hose has not solved the problem of black smoke

There might be a build up of soot in the exhaust system, first fit the new pipe and then give the car a good blast to clear the system.

Can you hear the whooshing noise when accelerating ?

Thats why i suggest to fit the new pipe first, i doubt that tape will withstand the boost pressures, not really worth pondering until a new hose is fitted.

hi there really appreciate the advice. although i have sealed it the smoke seems to be slightly better now but have noticed that i think due to the pipe getting hot it may still be escaping air . not sure if i can hear a noise . i am going out tomorrow to locate a new hose. hopfully i can pick one up without having to order.... thanks

got a new pipe today and it has solved the problem
