After a recent break down in my C270 02plate i found my EGR almost completly blocked with **** i took it off cleaned it up really well, but the lumpy idle came back the next day so i cleaned the MAF put fuel cleaner through but still the same, so i blocked off my valve. Now the idle is fine but the power seems down if i floor it it takes an age for the revs to get up is this a result of my tampering should i get a new valve?

Car is probably in limp mode, put valve back to how it should be and see if you get revs back. Have you any faults showing on your dash? It might be worth getting car plugged into Star to see whats going on. Common fault could be gummed up inlet manifold or possibly damaged/worn inlet manifold flaps.

You can't just block off the EGR valve, the ECU will adopt limp home mode.

Perform the EGR delete mod.

Egr

I had it plugged in Had 3 Faults EGR,MAF sensor and fuel rail pressure ive had the MAF sensor off so was hoping that was the cause of the fault and a reset might cure it but was wiating till i had the EGR sorted b4 resetting the computer? that sound sensible?

I think you will have to work through the fault code items one by one and try reset as you go. This is a question for someone with more knowledge than me, Dieselman help please!!

The EGR valve is probably causing the MAF sensor code, the fuel rail pressure is likely to be either a blocked filter or the O rings in the pressure control valve.

Ok im guna try the EGR delete then its due a service so hopefully the filter will be changed then ill make sure of it then ill get the computer reset, i may message you after diesel man if thats cool
