So who is having fun driving in the snow,I hate it couldn't even get my car out of the drive wheels just kept spinning :fail

I have some new (to me) 19" wheels, just refurbed and with brand new tyres on.

They are sat in the garage looking mean and purposeful

I can't (won't) put them on until the salt has been washed away.

It's very frustrating .

Quote in todays news from someone in Aberdeen, "even after stopping and applying the handbrake the car was still sliding". Well here's a thought, that says more about your tyres than the snow! :wallbash:

I've kept my tyre sizes the same and found winter tyres better for braking and steering in the snow but they do not allow you to defy physics and the wheels and back end of the car will slide happily. IMHO they're not quite what they are cracked up to be. Perhaps on a narrower wheel I might see more benefit.

Good in the rain and cold weather however and soft sidewalls mean a nicer ride.

I've had my winter tyres on since mid Decemeber, but in truth so far I've not really needed them. 1-2cm a few days ago and ice today, but nothing impassible.....touch wood.

Like all tyres, a lot depends on who makes them. You don't have cheapo winters on the rear?

You tart - you're only a lad :dk:.

I was doing corners on two wheels at your age...........

Had the winters on for a good few weeks now and been glad of them. Not just for the white stuff but for their ability to deal with deep standing water.
It's also fun driving with different handling/grip characteristics.

I used to buy col way remould snow tyres, they were fantastic .unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an equivalent available these days.winter tyres are all well and good, but bloody useless where I live.

I don't like dinner being disturbed after a good meal.

I'd never get a bike, I know I'd kill myself on one. The temptation would be too overwhelming.

Plus with a back injury like mine, I doubt I could even go on one, even if I wanted to.

You should try them, they bring some surprising benefits to the party:bannana:

Falkens. They're ok but they are wide, 255. I was warned in a separate thread about it so I have only myself to blame.

Having spent the last two winters with a winter-tyre shod BMW, it was a shock at how poor normal tyres have been in this weeks conditions.

The Smart handled the snow easily. Even from the bottom of a snow laden steep driveway, no wheel spin at all when reversing up it.

This should be fun on my 22's with 30 profile..... cant wait!!

I once had a BMW with 275 35 (or 30, can't remember now) ZR 19s - and it was fine in the snow - and that was with 350 horses and RWD.

You should be fine...
