merc e320...jaguar xk
Well am now utterly sick of this car, following on from my last post regarding various faults, i think i managed to sort them last night with the exception of the map sensor.

Came to start the car this morning and now it won't turn over...battery is fully charged!!

Strangest thing is the coolant fan runs at max speed with ignition on, also have an ESP warning on the the display...tried the diagnostic machine on it, however it now has no communications with the majority of the vehicle systems (was communicating fine last night).

Disconnected the battery, left systems to reset, reconnected it but no difference.

Have searched the net, seems like the car has gone into an emergency mode, i thought i had blown a fuse somewhere, checked all fuses in engine bay and next to steering wheel, all unfortunately fine.

Am about to blow a fuse myself....no, make that a gasket!!!!!!!!!, just wish i had some hair left to pull out.

Any advice lads???

Thought it would be better to start a new thread as the problem was a different one, albeit still to do with the diagnostics

Well had to call in the specialists today to check everything with his Star, main item was no power to the ECU, this was causing the non cranking, ESP messages, and the fan funning at full belt..........the engine was in emergency mode.

I had thought it was power to the ECU as i could not get my diagnostics to talk to it, my specialist confirmed this and along with his superb knowledge and equipment he found the fault........25amp fuse blown in the engine fuse box!!!! and a reset of the ECU the car is up and running, also no faults trouble or pending........he also diagnosed the boost pressure on the map sensor and told me what to do to fix it.

I am embarrassed to say i had checked and double checked all the fuses, somehow though i missed this one.....

If any one needs this guys phone number in the north east, i am happy to recommend him 100%....he also does remaps, ECU repairs/upgrades etc etc.....even better than all that, he comes to you

would this be the 25A fuse hiding at the back of the fuse box next to a relay?

I thought that the headlamp stuff had a 25A fuse and in my car - its the ONLY 25A fuse there!!!!

But it's not for the headlamps and I now know what its for!

:)
