Blown LED Festoon

Hey Killerhertz,

Bit of a problem with the LED's, got warning light on dash saying LH number plate light fault, checked and neither light was working.
Took them out and installed standard festoons....worked fine.
So looked more carefully at LED's the LH one seems to have blown small transistor top right looking at photo.
but if only one has blown, why were both not working??
Not had them that long bit wary of replacing them if they have a short life??

Any thoughts?

I found these to be unreliable, lasting only a few months before dimming or blowing. Since switching back to regular bulbs a few years ago, I've not had a problem.

I'm still on my orignal set from 2010.

Slamming bootlid, keeping 'follow me home lights' on can effect them.

That said, had a couple of issues in the past, virtually all festoon issues are with W209s.

I've only had one pair of LED festoons (same variety as above) on the W211 and one did go dim after two years but the other one was OK.

I've replaced with the latest incarnation so will see how these work out.
