I was watching an Italian programme... bwm are doing a 2-year personal lease on a 1-series for 219 euros a month, inclusive of servicing, road tax and insurance.

Is anyone aware of a similar deal in the UK (ideally with a merc)?

I quite like the shorter 2-year term, and the servicing/insurance inclusive part...

If you need short term, why not just rent?

Rent/lease - I consider them the same to be honest... what's the difference? (honest question, I'm new to the whole "not buying" thing.)

As far as I know, rent/lease is same thing.

THat deal was business users only and no longer available.

It was available for private buyers as well, and was still there when I posted as I checked.

Renting is Hiring, you hire it for a certain period and have no option to own, usually quite a bit cheaper as the hire company own it, get the massive discounts for fleet and claim the vat themselves.

Leasing is pruchasing over an agreed period, either a straight lease over say 60 months or maybe over 36-48 months with a balloon at the end, which reduces the monthlies, not normally as much as hiring but it gets closer, however, the final value is usually so close to what the car is worth most just swap anyway and get into something new again for the same monthly outlay.
Hence why if you swap every 2 - 4 years contract hire with much cheaper rentals is worth considering.

I was thinking of a car for work, as my current mileage-master (spaceship) is starting to get a bit old. Still stunning I got 2-3 years out of a £250 car - so I'm pleased!

Was considering something leased, but not I'm thinking maybe renting...

In an email I've just received from G2L that offer expired the end of Dec (even though it looks fine on their website). Apparently they can no longer place orders with BMW but have two vehicles in stock which have extras such as metallic paint and Nav thus making them more expensive.

As above, I enquirer for an M135i and the said they are now only supplying stock cars on this deal and only have two cars left so it's them and no new orders only.

I imagine a standard spec 135 still to be a nice car and for ~£250/month excellent value. Ticking options on lease cars is a needless expense IMHO. For reference £250 usually only gets a Fiesta.

Nav added £12 a month, and something I would tick.

It may well have ended end of December as that was the end of the quarter, new deals are starting to surface though and BMW are meant to be getting even more agressive. I can't see that car getting cheaper but think we may see more BMWs at silly prices, they want that market share back.

On a slight deviation, the fully maintained Golf R for £299 over 24 months seems quite cheap as well.
