Bodyshop Respray Quote

^^ Looks like a fantastic job. Where did you get it done? Was it mate's prices? I might have an E55 coming that needs TLC.

Where are you - I'm sure folks on here can suggest a suitably recommended bodyshop :) If it's north London - there's a fantastic one in Epping :)

NW Leicestershire.

My new weekend chariot, a W210 E55 needs the usual TLC, namely front wings, rear arches.

A lot depends on the quality of the bodyshop and its equipment. No matter when I discuss this I am always told that the bodyshop in question is top notch and does work for the Queen blah blah blah, but that fact remains if you go to a bodyshop in a backstreet garage with no dedicated passive certified paint booth with proper extraction and proper curing facilities then you will not get as good a job as one that does have that sort of set up no matter how good the sprayer.

That's why some cost £500 and some cost £1500 for the same job. If you are happy with the finish and work from the £500 shop go for it. :thumb:

this isn't always the case mate as we use a home built booth with some home built/installed infrared curing lamps we do flatt and polish most of our work but in the words of some of our customers we smash most of the local so called big paint shops its the pride and workmanship that goes into a job not always how big your wallet is.

for this job I would charge £560.

£1500 sounds about double what it should be.

Last year I had bonnet, front panel, front bumper, boot lid sprayed plus a new front wing fitted and sprayed plus some rear wheel arch bubbles corrected for £2000, inc VAT, on my e39 540i, and it was a top quality job.
