Woke up this morning to find my bonnet star was not there, not only that but have acquired three small dents in bonnet very nice of them and they didn't even leave me a bill.

I feel a mod coming on involving some wire, soldering, an inverter and 20,000volts.....

I suppose the star can be replaced but the dents are another matter they are just behind the top of the grill. i need a couple of remote control machine guns mounted on the bonnet, it was parked right outside the flat as well, but then it was firework night and i was out, maybe i'll stay in next time so i can catch em.

If you get a release switch from maplins(£0.99ish), a personal alarm (£5ish) with a little moulding and a little soldering you can fit a diy alarm to the star. I might do a HOWTO on that if anyone is interested.

Brian WH, i like your little MB badge the round one with MB UK on it, perhaps something like that to cover up the HOLE, i would miss the star though, silly me

Please let me know if you are succesful with your mod, I'm also sure that lots of us would like one.

the dents should be pretty easy to fill/disguise Rob, you've got a white car so paint matching won't be too much of a pain - pick up a can of MB paint and bring it over here one fine day and I'll give you a hand to sort it out

Yes please Spinal, I'd like to know more please.

Better to get it set up than be to late :(

I have seen some US Mercedes-Benz with a 'flat' emblem on the bonnet? It is not to my own personal liking, but if you live in an area where the car is 'vunerable'. It might be worth considering.

John

That ornament appears to be special though, the star pops off so you can take it with you.

EDIT: I am going to move this thread to the bodywork section! :)

Doesn't sound so bad then when you put it like that.

<note to myself-read all the way thro the description first>

Thanks Andy, will take you up on that ,(in the spring) i'm not a cold wather person, have got another star to replace it but as 4 more in the street have been nicked in the last week i'm not so sure that i will be fitting it just yet.
