Boot lid- C class 250 diesel R reg low mileage

The boot lid now closes so fast/drops, unlike before when it closed smoothly.It locks/unlock and click opens remotely. Looks like closing mechanism has gone .Any advice will be appreciated.

There is a design flaw where the arm which holds the spring in place snaps. sounds like this is the case. Remove the inside boot trim and carpet and you should see the spring hanging down.
