Hi guys

I hope someone can help
I have W202 230 komp / 1999 spec, last week I have noticed that the boot was not opening as it should, normally you use the key fob and the boot lid will swing fully open. I had a quick at the weekend and noticed that the passenger side pivot arm the bracket which the spring is attached has broken, I have moved the spring so that it fits into another hole. but no joy. now that I have moved it, it seems out of balence with the opp side, will I need to change the pivot arm and if so how is this done , will I need to change both arms as one has wires running through it

Thanks Oris1 :wallbash::confused:

Hi there & welcome,

Have a look HERE - its a common fault on the facelift W202s im afraid. Welding is the only real solution.

I moved the spring onto the next flange, and it fixed it, although there was a little bound back when the boot opened, it sorted the problem!

Mine also broke with a big bang one day.

Hooked spring back onto a hole on the bit that's left and all is fine. Boot only opens 2" but that's enough for me, can't help but cringe at the ones that come flying open.
