Hi everyone, new to this so bare with me.

I've just disconected my battery to do some work on my CLK and locked it up while I was in the house.
I am now having trouble opening to boot to reconnect the battery and as the door system works electically I can't open the boot from inside.
I've used WD40 to loosen up the lock but the key wont turn, must be gunked up more then I realised.
Any ideas of getting in to the boot as to reconnect the battery?

Cheers guys!

You're sure you're not using a valet key?

You can power the car up from under the bonnet with a spare battery and some jump leads or a jump pack. Providing of course you haven't left the cables on the back resting on a metal surface. A dead short wouldn't be good.....

Hi ya, thanks for reply.

The positive is off and resting on a bit of card but the neg is still attached to battery.
The key used is the same one that opens to doors so must be correct.

Cheers!

The boot locks on CLK's sieze up through lack of use ( most people open the boot with the button on the key )

Keep squirting WD in it and working the key in and out ( might take a long while ) , but eventually it will free up and turn.

Good luck.

Thanks Howard, but we can't open the boot with the button on the key as the battery is disconected..Been squirting WD in it since first thing and all day today but still no luck...

Any other ideas...

It will free eventually , honestly....

You might have to do it over the course of a couple of days , but it'll go in the end.

It's one of the initiations of CLK ownership ;)

Can you get in the car and get a powerpack onto the terminal under the bonnet ?

EDIT :- Try this ...

also clean the key on both sides and put vaseline on both side and push in, when it comes out i could be dirty repeat the process 2 - 3 times eventually it will be lubricated;

continue with dw40 as howard says after trying my trick

it works for most old mercedes which have not been used for long time

Valet keys will open the doors, because valets need to move the car; they won't open the boot, because they shouldn't need access.
