Bought 507 - What next?

The screen is pretty naff but actually, with that rotator, works really well in terms of function. Certainly prefer it to a touch screen. Not owned a BMW either so this is new to me.
I'd love an upgraded screen but I have seen that bolt on one and looks a bif naff so I will live wih it.

Ah, another thing... The A/C button flashes on and off red when pressed but never looks or stays on. Is that normal?

I was out in the cold and it did not steam up ever.
I had it on ZONE with the fan on level 2.

If you would have left it carbon then try and peel it off. Shouldn't damage it and will confirm if it's been replaced on the cheap.
Well, I wouldn;t say "cheap".
Whomever did the colour change on the sills and lid did an excellent job. Looks really good on close inspection. Whether they should have sone it at all is down to opinion.
However, I like it. Suits the car in manacing black.

The carbon spoiler is NOT part of the 507 spec which I find strange

Your AC needs looking at probably need regassing should not flash red I think its pretty common fault on these

When I say cheap I mean they fitted a standard spoiler instead of paying for the carbon one, if it's been replaced.

If you use the car through winter it's worth investing in a set of OEM 18" wheels to save the forged 507 rims from salt and so you can run all season tyres. Something like the Michelin CrossClimate will greatly improve traction.

The AC is broken. Could be the compressor but get the fault codes read for starters.

You can hide a box away within the dashboard that then runs Android Auto on the existing screen so it's almost seamless.

Congrats on the car. Great machines.
The air con problem is unfortunately common on these and expensive to sort. You might be lucky if it just needs a regas but it’s more likely the unit itself is damaged as it is common. It’s a front end off job but - worth getting it done.
Good luck

However, I am still taking into Mercedes Guildford for a full checkover and diagnostics and hope to put right anything that is amiss.

Please save yourself some money and effort and hassle.

Bring the car to an MB Specialist Indie instead.
Prestige Car Service in Horndean is a sponsor here, well recommended by many. Probably closer to you than MB Guildford.
You will get a better service, checkover and diagnostics than you will ever get in any MB main dealer.

Thats all I have to say.

+1 here. PCS are an easy run down the A3 from where you are, know their stuff, and will talk you through all the options. Better service and better value than an MB dealer. They can usually loan a car if its needed.

That may be unfair. I have heard good things about MB Guildford and they have generous discounts for older vehicles (servicing and parts), in addition to a collection/drop off service.

OP, if you wish to access these discounts, you should pay the small membership of the official MB Club.

Agree i had my 202 c43 serviced there for £130 - Platinum programme

Guildford did throw in two discounts. I will use them for my servicing so happy to have them look at it. Any work needed I can then look around.

Thanks guys. Strange that the car seems to be working fine, in terms of clearing up internal misting.

Ah, somebody else mentioned this. What on earth is this 'box'? Is this something Mercedes Guildford can do whilst they have the car?

I would go Esso super
Ah, i do have one near me. Never mentioned it as I thought the other two were known to be superior! Cheers.

Umm. I didn;t even think of that. I am booked in for tomorrow so I might now leave it there.

Ah, one more thing I discovered on my first commuting effort in the car...

There is no beeping when in proximity to objects. I can sometimes see some lights moving on that thing in the centre-top of the front shelf but no beeps.
I have tried switching that P>>> button on and off to no avail.
Is there a system setting that overrides this (as I know some people hate the beeps) or is this a fault?

Cheers.

They don't mist up inside unless it's extremely wet outside so not a good indicator of whether the AC is working or not.

Lots of options available for retrofitting Android Auto. Here's a video so you can see what's involved, not something Mercedes would do as it's aftermarket.

This is a decent UK offering, can be done DIY or an auto electrician on your driveway. £250 or plus £120 for fitting.

The parking sensors only beep when you're very close, they don't beep further out with increasing intensity like most other cars do. You have to use the visual aid and if you look over your shoulder in the headlining is the rear one.

If there's a fault it'll long beep when putting it into reverse and four of the lights will come on and stay on.

Ah, wicked! Will get that for sure.

As said above they beep when the visual aid turns red
