The guy broke my locking wheel nut! said its too tight.. :wallbash: he goes "Sorry Sir, i suggest you go to a main dealer get this fixed and come back for your tyre"

Anyway..

i have to now find someone that will brake my nuts on all 4 wheels - so that i can get the bloody tyre changed..

I am soo ******!

Broke a locking wheel nut or the key?.....keys from the main dealer at about £27 each but of course you need the to get the car and the nuts to the dealer to find the correct key.

Complete bummer.

lol..

broke the key..

I found a local garage they said they can brake all 4 nuts (take about 15mins per wheel) going there at 5pm..

fingers crossed...

Sam - Id be interested to know what they charge you... I have a car where I lost the key...

i am hoping near £30.. but will post up once they charge me..

i did call saying i just need one doing...but should i have a flat i would be totally buggered!

You can take the car to your nearest dealer and order just the locking nut. They may want to see the V5 though. It may take a couple of days to come through.

Hi John,

no time, heading out to Europe Thursday and still need to get a Tyre fitted, oild changed etc...

+ i may be in the same situation - where the dealer or the new nut is not able to open the over tightened locking wheel nut..

Just do what the others have suggested the dealer will likely have them in stock. It will be much cheaper.

Wow that's a tight time schedule.

Good Luck in Europe.

The dealer will a set of keys in the service shop. They can remove the locking nuts and replace with either ordinary bolts or a new locking bolt set. Have the ordinary bolts and let them order a key for you, unless they let you have one of their keys.

Cheaper to remove the benz ones & buy aftermarket Mcguard or simular IMHO!

2 days seems plenty of time to me, last time mine went it took me an hour to get the replacement from the dealer.

I think that only pristine expensive alloys are likely to warrant the use of locking nuts. My locking nut got knackered and in frustration I just got all the matching bolts removed and replaced with standard ones. Seeing how easy it is to remove the matching bolts, even though it is a noisy (and scary if you are watching) process, it makes the locking nuts seem overkill for ordinary alloys.
And given the way the bolts can be difficult to undo sometimes, it is just a matter of time before the locking nut breaks.

Edit: a matching bolt can be removed from one wheel in under 1 minute. I have seen it with my own eyes.

I have removed locking wheel nuts on c class and e class's by hammering an 18mm multi-point socket onto the remaining part of the broken nut. This should have enough grip to move all but the most over tightened lockers.
Hope this works.

Go to MB and get them to loosen the bolts, and order an key at the same time

Garange could not brake the nuts - though they had the right tool!

Went to MB this am - they gave me a key £27 - though its not fitting 100% on 2 nuts.

They said to spray some wd40 on in..but not sure if this will work as wd40 is an oil and will make it slippery..

So will have to know it on with a hammer and loosen gently...

You can pick up locking wheel nut removal sockets for about £15 - google Laser - but is your problem sheer overtightness ?
As oxy heating would damage the wheels you might be consigned to hours of drilling plus lots of drill bits !
