Broken Plastic seat surround

The plastic seat surround has broken on the side at the drivers side. My car is a W211 E270 CDI Avantgarde 2003. It has done just over 60,000 miles. I admit to being 18 1/2 stone but still think it should not have broken in normal use after so few miles.
I would welcome the forum's views on the possibility of getting a contribution from Mercedes. Has it happened to anyone else out there? Does anyone know how much it would cost to have it replaced? If the chance of getting a contribution from Mercedes is nil then I would have thought going to an independant would be the best bet.
Any advice would be appreciated.
The white marks on the crack and surface was my futile attempts to stop the first crack spreading.
Thanks

David cant see it being your weight as the trim is just that trim:) ie shouldnt be load bearing.

Seat prob been apart some time in its life or something jammed down the side of the seat?

This is a common issue on various MB's... most noably the W220.

The trim is not expensive at all.

I weigh that on a light day, and mine's fine - it's not weight related...

Looks like another unfortunate sign of what owning a modern mercedes means.

Depending on price best bet may be a salvage yard, if your the hands on kind of owner!

Thanks to you all for your comments.

Not hands on I am afraid so getting a quote for repair initially from my main dealer, who I have found very helpful in the past. They are going to try and get contribution from Mercedes.
