Buying Mclaren SLR

Hahha,

As if he would go from a C180 to an SLR :D :D

(Unless you have won the lottery ;) )

No. I'm off for a weekend's fishing until reality kicks in at home :D ;) :D

You should come down here for a weekend Mark.
I organise regular trips out.

Don't tell glojo, but the 10lb bass are back again:rock:  :bannana:

I'm glad I didn't read your post otherwise I would have gone into a huge sulk.

I stripped down and oiled all my lever drag reels last night and dreamt about being on the high seas reeling in a nice 10Ib bass. Not too big and not too small :( :( :(

Mega sulk

Thanks a bunch for cheering me up;) ;)

I did a track day with merc once in Estoril - they had all sorts of AMG toys there with professional drivers. You did a lap in a C or E saloon, then an SL, then after a wait a lap in the SLR and finally, gloriously, a lap in the DTM track car. there were cars all over the place. At each and every lap you thought "holy **** this is fast".

being in something like the DTM that seemed to eat the SLR's for breakfast was knee trembling.

Those DTM really put things in perspective. I wonder what the Veyron would be like !

And the VED is no more than a Renault Espace:D

I saw a CLK DTM at Brands hatch and it was wonderful. A beautiful car.

Apologies for my little tease. Even if I come into vast money I still wouldn't buy one a real one as it depreciates at £100,000 in the first year and is about as practical as a chocolate fire guard. With petrol going up and up I am pleased with my little C Class:)

With respect, if I could afford circa £300,000 for a car, I don't think fuel costs would be my biggest concern ;)

I like hawk's reference to road tax, at least you wouldn't begrudge the cost so much on a car of this calibre.

£100,000 depreciation in year 1? Pah, that's only £300 a day :D
