buying new tyres on the web...........

Having checked my car yesterday evening, the tyres on there at the moment are Dunlop SP 01 Sport DSST which are apparently run flat tyres, according to a couple of tyre fitters I've spoken to.
These are more expensive than the 9000s and I may just change all 4 to 9000s instead - will probably improve the ride a little.......

or should I stick to run flats????

 That's a little worrying to say the least.

My understanding was that RFT's were only meant to be fitted when the car had the appropriate sensor equipment, on the basis that a puncture would be less noticeable on RFT's than with normal tyres

i.e. without the sensors to tell you, you'd keep pressing on in blissful ignorance and things would eventually end very badly?

Possibly.
I've spent ages looking at Dunlop's website but nowhere does it specifically say that their SST (self supporting technology) tyres should be used only with tyre pressure sensors.
But I'm surprised that the previous owner would have put these tyres on and not been advised by the fitters of a safety issue.

Anyway, whats done is done. I am getting new (non RFT) tyres.

Agreed, I don't think it's written in stone, but more a case of logical sense.
Still, a fool and his money are easily parted...and SST tyres are hellishly expensive!
