Hi All,

Have moved on my Volvo S60 D5, as by matter of chance a nice 2006 V70 SE D5 came up for sale literally 5mins from home, in excellent condition...too good to pass really...bought from a Volvo specialist the car has full Volvo S/history with all print outs...+ he has done service with cam belt kit change all with OEM part receipts...

The auto box changes very smoothly hot /cold as I know about concerns regarding these (geartronic) going bang...sad to see the S60 go and I hope this serves me as a good workhorse in the same way, much easier now with the dog:thumb::D

Big thanks to Flango (Ian) for his advice and Volvo knowledge...

SLR motors certainly shifts a few Volvo's, i wouldnt worry to much about the geartronic, on a 2006 it should have the later/better box just make sure the oil changes are regular. Good choice of car alround ;)

Nice motors. I had one like that, but the T5 SE petrol version (pre-facelift to yours) and I must admit that there have been a few times I've regretted selling it, not least of all the front wheel drive in the snow. The estate is such a useful tool.

Don't know if you're on the Volvo Forum, but I found it very friendly, with lots of technical information.

Hope you'll forgive me for including a pic.

Thanks Guys...Yes Seb at SLR is such a Volvo enthusiast and really nice chap...he is a Volvo trade association member so I think gets lots of stuff off loaded by the stealers before they go to auction....he had lots of the older Volvos which he thoroughly goes over before sale....my cam belt was not due but would have been in 5k so he did it anyway:thumb:

Funny thing is I can walk there and was meaning to go with my S60 lol

I am a member on the Volvo forum...but you get yes/no answers, no banter at all....not like the merc forums lol

Wow, what a car for the money. We've recently bought an XC90, I found that the Volvo forums I've tried have been quite slow / quiet too, not quite the same as here...

Have to say, nothing at all to do with the post, but the picture in your signature is beautiful. Is there a full size version on here?

Great car and very comfortable indeed. The only thing I would say is make sure you get the auto box flushed and changed regularly or it will fail. I have owned 2 S80's and had on the first had 3 boxes under warranty so was very unlucky. The other S80 and my V70 both had their auto boxes fail due to no oil change. It was "sealed for life" and not part of any service but that may have changed now.

Fantastic cars and can not be faulted for long distance drives.

I'm on most of the Volvo forums. Take a look at Volvo Tuning which is my favourite.

Hi Pal,

Yes pics are from Mercedes Enthusiast magazine photo shoot last year...:D

I have a thread running on my E55 on the other side, if you look at the last post I have posted quite a few full pics, it was published with my interview May 2014 edition and featured both my SL & E55K (my merc section)...:thumb:

Sold my 2006 V70 D5 SE that I had from new when we got the AMG, excellent car that I often wish I'd kept.

Even ignoring the reliability of the auto and how generally awful it is, the manual is so much better with that lovely engine. It loves to rev and the five cylinder warble is addictive.

Mine has the 6sp geatronic which apparently marked an improvement in quality, driving wise its feels pretty good comparable with my MB's...however as we all know no ATF can last a vehicle lifetime so prudent to change....on my old S60 you could even check the ATF level (engine bay dipstick), on this model this has been removed so the owner has no way of checking ATF oil quality unless you remove the drain plug and drain some out...

Well as can be seen I have a V70......for 3.5 years now.

Very capable, does what it says on the tin type of car. I use it for work and when I need to transport more than one passenger; journeys of less than 5 miles and when I know that I will have to park somewhere dubious or there might to the chance of a parking ''ding''.

The V70 is never fired up for the shear pleasure of driving........they are not ''drivers'' cars.

I liked my V70 R I had it as a company car many years ago when I was stuck on the corporate hamster wheel.

It was a hoot to drive, seats very comfy and the ability to swallow massive loads. What's not to like!

Enjoy the new motor hope it serves you well.

+1 for the seats...best in the business:thumb:
