C Class interior lighting fault

Hi, first of all, l am a new member and still getting my head around how to use the site correctly. I have a problem in my 2003 W203 270cdi avantgarde estate. My interior lights and under door lights donot function at all. If you press any of the buttons on the main light cluster the light flashes on for a split second and the button symbols flicker. Can anybody help please, could it be that the interior light unit has had it?

Is this during darkness? They won't come on in daylight

No, its the same night or day, they just stopped working.

Just to end this post, it was the interior light unit that had failed. Its quiet a complicated unit that controls all the interior lighting and puddle lights etc. Got a secondhand one from mercbreakers on ebay for £24.00, very good value.
