hello,

my c class , x reg , 320 benz had a clicking noise coming from under neath dash for 30 seconds everytime i turned my car on .

a back street garage replace some cogs but now it will :
if select cd it says no cd , although all 6 cds are loaded in the magazine and the magazine ejects so there is power.

the radio loads but no sound from speakers at all

the telephone in arm rest has power and it says insert sim card but the command screen says no tel .

it seems the command centers ECU has forgotten its components ?? i read on internet it either needs a DAS wake up call . or it needs the power disconnecting but i dare not dis connect the battery just in case the radio starts askin for a code because i do not have one as i purchased the car second hand .

i took it back to the garage and they cannot work out what is wrong with it . i asked them if they dis connected the battery at any time but they didnt. i assume they didnt thats why my car isnt asking for a code. i am in sheffield if any one can help please. thanks.

It needs to go on a Star diagnostic machine. This is the first point of call.

alfie/richard are the ones to talk to... sounds like its a simple case of a optic cable off somewhere to me.

i took it back to the gargage and they re checked all the connections. they say its all connected and dont know whats wrong with it.

reading on forums it needs some sort of wake up call ?? or the battery needs disconnecting and reconnecting to re recognise all the devices?

but i am worried if i disconnect the battery then it will ask for a radio code i presume which i do not have?

your car wont have a radio code...

You may need to restart the ring but if the configuration hasnt changed, it normally doesnt need doing.

fixed :

well it costed 80 + just to re program the center consolse mercedes benz COMMAND system to re recognise the car had a telephone / tv / sat nav / cd changer magazine / radio.

a bit crap for a 30k car to loose its fibre optic ring every time the cars battery is dis connected.

just out of curiosity. why wouldnt my MB variant not have a radio code ?

because they cant be stolen very easily.... the older stereos could be removed in a second, these cant and so no need for codes...
Fantastic in my opinon as codes always get lost.

The car would not lose its configuration with a disconnect, the garage MUST have put things back differently.

cant they, i havent taken one apart but youtube vids shows prise open ashtray, undo screws, slide out climate control , undo screws, unclip centre console vents, undo screws and then slide out centre console? ??
