Hello,

I am soon to order a new Mercedes C-Class, but not yet decided on engine size, either 250 auto or 350 auto Sport. I have heard that service charges at MB dealerships are high when compared to BMW and others.
Could anyone indicate what I can expect to pay over 3 years based on 12,000 miles? Most of my driving is dual carriageway and I am not overly heavy on the gas.

I know this may seem a vague question, but I am just after a rough idea.

Thank you all!

Budget £1400 for 3 years. No real different for a 250cdi or 350cdi but the 350cdi is a V6 and a lot nicer than the 4pot 250cdi

Way too high in my experience. I use MB Oxford for the servicing of my C-Class and the costs so far (they offer fixed-price servicing) have been:
  • "A" Service @ 14,245 miles - £203.14
  • "B" Service @ 26,147 miles - £344.98
Both services included a courtesy car, and the "B" service included a brake fluid change and the combination filter.

I'm light on the brakes and do not expect to replace pads at the next "A" service, so that should come in around £200 again + the cost of an MOT. Other than that I'll have replaced all four tyres at a cost of around £85 each so my service & maintenance costs over 3 years and around 38k - 40k miles will be about £1100.

Agree with the above, but with some dealers you will have to push for those prices - they may initially quote higher.

Interesting to compare MB's Service Care with BMW's Service Inclusive. BMW don't do a 3yr/36K mile package, but their 5yr/60K mile one is £300 for a 3 Series. Makes MB look very expensive.

Clearly only a moron would not take the BMW 5yr/60k service package when they buy the car, as they will already have paid the balance of the true service cost in the price of the car. It's sleight of hand, but clever marketing, because it keeps the headline post-purchase running costs low. Take a look at the 3-Series residuals though and the C-Class still looks competitive on a TCO basis :thumb:

MB Temple Fotune North London - A-Service for C-Class 180K: £260 'after 15% discount'. That's the most expensive I have seen so far.
