C200 CDI estate door pillar problem

Hi all.

First post here, as I have just purchased a c200 estate 2005.

My problem is rust/bubbles at top of door pillars, how I did not notice when I bought privately I do not know, prob the excitement of how nice it looked at first view!

I have been racking my brain on how to fix?

First i thought loctite 7305 to treat, then prime and paint

Then I was looking at m3 carbon fibre tape (but unsure if I could get the small trims after fitting)

Then I have been looking at the silver replacement pillars on amazon.

Has anyone dealt with this, is it a problem on the model? I need to fix, as I will lose sleep over it, lol!

Thanks, Pete

I am guessing I am the only one that has this problem, lol!

Take them off and treat them to whatever look you like. The carbon wrap is very popular but I prefer the gloss black myself.

My 2002 model has this problem on 2 of the pillars. My pillars are matt black. I sanded them done and repainted the top inch of each of the 2 rusty ones.

I don't lose any sleep over it. Especially as most of the rest of the car is also rusty (all door bottoms, wheel arches, tailgate and assorted other areas).

At least your car will be galvanised, so should escape the worst of the W203 rust issues.

Thanks for replies

V12 - is it a big job taking them off? Seems to be a lot of trims and i can imagine they wiil be stuck on with some glue like substance.

Duncanh - sorry to hear of your rust problems, have you any plans to sort?
