C220 cdi w204 - What mpg do you get on yours?

noddynic youre going to mildly annoy the older members here, like myself.
Any way you ought to drive 'really carefully' all the time, irrespective of age.

I get 34mpg round town driving normally after a ecu remap. before I was hardly getting 29mpg and to get that had to drive really carefully slower than a pensioner

What type of remap did you do? How much did it cost? Have you gained/reduced any power? My car changes gears at about 2000 rpm, what does your car change at now?

After getting used to the drive of the merc I am now getting around 30mpg.

Idling car in traffic or warm up is literally killing mpg on screen.

I am now letting the car run for about 10sec then driving from start up. This has made a difference to mpg.

Also keeping foot off accelerator and letting it coast then applying brakes also works well. Would have worked better in a manual tho.

I try not to rev past 2000rpm around town unless I'm going uphill or to change gear then I ease off..

Overall I think from personal experience it's a lot to do with driving style and congestion on the roads

The thing with economical driving is to use the brakes as little as possible, look ahead anticipate slowing traffic and ease off early, every time you brake you waste the fuel you used to get to that speed in the first place. Steady and gentle, it can be quite an art form
