Hi my name is Wayne and I am a new member so hello to everyone!
I have a c220 cdi sport w204.The problem I have is an annoying knock
that is felt (not heard) through the steering wheel. This more noticeable
on a smooth road surface with minor imperfections then on a bumpy road.
The car has been into my local dealer .They have changed the drop links
but this has not cured the problem. Has any body come across this problem as it is driving me nuts !:wallbash:

Is there some imperfection on the tyre, blister perhaps.

Hi Wayne

I live in South Africa and got a C180 last year June. I have been experiencing the same problem. I feel but dont hear a knock coming through on the steering when going over bump like a bridge join on a highway. Seems to be when the back wheels travel oevr the bump which is strange. Did you have any luck repairing your issue ?

Regards
Oliver

I had exactly the same knock on my 2009 c220 CDi sport.
Went to speak to the dealer on it (as the car is still under warrenty). He mentioned that there's a bit of a knock on most of the sports. Mines exactly the same you can feel it even if the back wheels go over a bump, which suggests its something in the column.

Dealer reckoned it is more noticeable with the steering wheel extended more.

Anyone else noticed this? I did a bit of a Google search and it appears t be a common complaint. Smooth as a baby's a$$ on motorways but on rough suburb roads its quite annoying.

I actually went and test drove 3 others last week. A C220 CDi and 2 C200 CGI, the first 2 didn't quite feel the same but the last one felt very similar to mine, so I have put it down to a "feature" even though it sucks and just doesnt feel right.
