C250 TD 1998
Hi
My c250 is playing up again!!! has started not to start on the button and when eventually I get it started (about an hour) you can see air bubbles in the fuel lines. The tank is half full and when I filled it up the air bubbles disappear and it starts fine. I have checked to see any leeks in the pipes and most have been changed last year plus the pre-filter and main fuel filter have been changed. This has happened to me before and got to the point when filling up did not solve the starting problem and ended up after changing most of the pipes a 20p seal but have looked all around the area and can not see a leak. Not sure if anyone can help or I will just have to wait for the leak to show its self.

Try the de waxer, bolts to the side of the head by 4 t30 torx bolts has fuel line going in and coming out.

Under the inlet manifold at the front

Check the pipe clips at the rear of the engine bay, but the problem sounds more like the tank pickup has a problem.

Have you changed the fuel stop solenoid O ring yet?
Held to the IP by 2 torx set screws, a ten minute fix.
That was the main culprit on my two C250td cars.

Thanks A11r
same thing on mine changed it last year.

Hi Dieselman
Long time no speak thanks for quick response can you tell me where the tank pick up point is?

Under the car in the front of the tank, iirc.

Due to having a saddle tank your car uses two pickups and transfers fuel via them. It could be this system is drawing in air.

Hi have you checked little gauze filter under inlet pipe on fuel filter mine was blocked with debris is under pipe on top of fuel filter held down by 10mm head bolt

Hi all
Still trying to solve the mystery of the air intake in the fuel line I did come across this thread that seems to be the same problems on the E300 as my c250 can anyone tell me if the two have the same delivery as it seems that way to me?

Also dieslman
do I need to take of plastic covers under the the car to see the fuel pick up points??

The two cars are nearly identical in the fuel system, the only difference is the C-class has a saddle tank underneath, the E class an upright one in the boot.

No need to remove any covers to get to the tank.

:)Hi all
