Hi I am A newbie to this site so forgive me for asking what others have already asked.
always wanted a Mercedes as a bit of a retirement present i sold my Skoda octavia estate 1.9 diesel turbo 17500 miles on clock turbo replaced at 150000 miles no other problems or expense.
i bought a Mercedes C270 Avantgard 2002 135000 miles was like a rocket sled on rails for a year and a half now things are not so good i think the turbo has stopped working if i give it a thrashing at high revs the performance is there but at low revs low power i had codes checked there were two relating to the inlet manifold i found a lever had dropped of the swirl flaps so put it back on (hasnt dropped of again) the motor that drives them is working when put on test via test equipment.Also the EGR was badly cloged so i removed it and cleaned it the performance is still not right sometimes not bad but then in to limp again i hooked up my small reader and it says no codes found but havent had it on the real thing again yet . I have read some posts there are a lot of thoughts out there where would you guys start my thoughts are remove and mod the inlet manifold leaving the stepper motor to do its thing would you do this as a first thing. I saw on here to check turbo squees the inlet rubber pipe with engine running 2500 revs my engine sucked the pipe flat when i squeesed so i guess the turbo is not working (not sure about this though)anyway helping an old guy will i am sure bring you rewards elsewhere i loved this car so much when it worked as it should and am realy !!!!! now thanks in advance Barry ps also changed the MAF
