Hi all,

Thought I'd better join as I am now on my 2nd MB, first owned a 2000 230CLK in 2002 and am now in 3rd year of ownership and the very proud owner of 'Das Uberwagon' -C32 AMG Estate.

I acquired it from Marcus Fothergill specialist cars (Harrogate) in 2007 it having accumalted 80k miles and it needed some TLC. It has not been without its problems I would have made this post under 'projects' as it has been a journey but as the 'newbie', not sure I am able to.

Wow, what can I say; nothing comes even close as a replacement. I will keep this car until the wheels fall off, in fact one nearly did yesterday afternoon - had a blowout heading south on M6 just after Knutsford services if any members saw the sorry sight on the hard-shoulder! Greenflag did their job and got me home for 7 (tube missing from get-you-home-liquid kit); E-Tyres fitted new rubber today - what a service and great price too: Toyo TR1 225/40 Y18 - £116 fitted.

Hard shoulder, not a nice place to be for 1 hour; I had visions of a sleepy trucker ploughing into the back of pride and joy; some of course may like that idea but my car has had over £6k spent over the first 2 years of ownership on mechanicals/electrics alone (courtesy of extended Autoprotect warranty) and £4k in bodywork together with Brabus alloy refurb (courtesy of MB Birmingham - the warranty work made me an A1 customer!).

So with my religious cleaning and detailing routine, even after 120k miles C32 looks like a 6 months old; Tansanite blue, black AMG embossed hide, Brabus monoblocs, every toy and all working; if I knew how, I'd add photos to the thread. Used daily for work, kids, dogs etc.

Oh, if any 997 or 650i owners are reading, apologies for ruining your dayout in the Midlands, repeatedly!

Hi....I remember that car, I very very nearly bought it when I was looking for one.You must of got it late 2007 as I didnt buy mine untill April 08,unless he had two Tansanite blues both with 80k :)

And 6k spent in the first 2 years

Hi Marty,

Delivered March 1 2007, just before its 5th birthday! at the time MF had just sold a black C32 Estate with 19" rims with 70k (no parking sensors!) which originally was my preference but am glad with my purcahse.

Had the Autoprotect warranty supplied by Marcus (its a trade-only one) and paid extra to have it for 2 years; turned out to be copper-bottomed hence I had EVERYTHING sorted, central locking, new intercooler, spring, heated seats, heater vent motors, too much to remember. I extended it for another 2 years (£950) and will do so next March too.

Welcome. An excellent choice of transport. ;)

Thanks very much guys, very welcoming; have figured out how to put a picture of the Beast on my signature; clever eh?

Welcome ..ditto on the vehicle.!!

The veritable wolf in sheep's clothing; at worst it looks like a fully sorted family car.

More than 4 years now.

By far the longest I've ever owned a car.

Same here; there is no replacement hence I'll keep it for as long as it wants to keep me!

Hmm...... I reckon you could be tempted with a C63 Estate!

Welcome to the forum and please show some photos of your car, it sounds like you have really taken car of your AMG!

Yes I think so; saw one on Autotrader for £32k so they are seriously dropping in price. Am warming to the idea of a lunatic E55 AMG Estate!

At the price I paid all those years ago it was a bargain, and now it's an outrageous bargain!!

I got tempted by a Boxster a few years ago, but thought better of it.

I came very close to a CLS55 AMG last year which sometimes I think I should really should have gone for, but we bought a caravan instead. As Mrs D said, it's difficult for us to sleep in a car on holiday!! :D

I got excited about the Nissan GTR (Skyline) and C63 AMG, but decided to wait given the problems with economy at the time. They're both a bit too easily noticed, but on all other counts they hit the spot for me.

The M3 seems to have fallen harder than the C63 which makes them appealing but I don't think I'm an M3 kind of person. That said several neighbours have them, and they sound lovely going up the hill I live on.

With the exception of the odd brainwave that passes as soon as it occurs to me, I really only think of cars to complement rather than replace, like Chevette HSR, C36 AMG, 190 2.5-16v (Cosworth), E36 AMG, M535i, G-Wagen, SL500 (R129), Aston Martin Lagonda () which are much more my kind of thing these days.

Ahem, 630i, 645i and 650i owners if you please and 911 owners (not Coxsters)!

Thats pretty impressive! My c32 is around 340bhp to the wheels, and i don't think it would mince a 911 or a 650i??what engine mods do you have and power figures?
