C350e anyone considering one?

I once had a simple experiment gadget thing that had a spinning black and white paddle in what looked like a light bulb. The point was that sunlight pushed on one of the coloured sides and made it spin. I think it was white that light pushed so you'll need the sun behind you to maximise your speed. ;)

My car will be black so I'm resigned to plodding along... until I put my foot down, that is.

Struggling to get through all the posts having only just dropped on this forum - my order was placed back in June 2015.
Palladium Silver estate with Black artico - delivery has been confirmed for Tuesday next week.

Believe me it is worth the wait!! I got My brilliant blue premium plus saloon with black leather, ILS, HUD, surround camera system and tinted rear windows on wednesday. I can't stop looking at it! And if you think it's nice on the outside just wait until you see the inside!!

Well I've sent an email to our fleet guys asking for clarification on why the Mercedes Me is disabled.

I'm hoping they pass this on to Lex or at least provide me with a contact at Lex so I can express my disappointment.

My email basically says that I can't understand why they would disable this feature, especially as it is contains important features required for the hybrid, such as battery monitoring etc and if MB have installed it as a standard feature on the hybrid then there is a good reason.

I'll let you know the outcome.

I'll be interested in how you get on as mine's due for delivery in April and is via Lex too.

Very interesting Hatchie you seem to be the record holder at the moment, unless YOU know different.

Done a motorway trip up the M1 from Northampton to Leeds tonight which was a mixture of speeds due to long sections of 50mph through roadworks and with cruise set at 75mph where the speed wasn't restricted and Eco hybrid mode all the way.

Set off with a full tank of petrol and 15 miles showing on the fully charged electric range. The results were probably the best economy I've seen so far:137 miles at an average of 55mph, resulting in 48.7mpg and the engine off for 36 miles! The car coasts well in Eco mode and even charges on downhill stretches.

The Eco gauge showed two of the three sectors at 100% and acceleration at 79% showing a 41.1 mile bonus, whatever that means!

My iPad doesn't like multiple attachments so here's the shot of the Eco gauge.

Remaining charge is 22% with 0 miles range showing.

To be honest I didn't order my estate based on the stated economy or green credentials - I ordered it for the performance and low BIK%.
For that reason I am not considering a home EV charging point - would it be feasible to drive it without ever plugging it in?

I too do not have a charge point and have only plugged in twice just to see the benefit of the pre heater working. If the battery has less than something like 25% charge when you park up for the night there's not enough juice to pre heat the next morning. After 4K miles the overall mpg has not really moved and has been 32.8mpg for some time. Most I've had out of a run in 44 mpg but quite frequently on longer runs I get 35-38mpg. It's driving around town that feels the pain (20-30mpg) unless you charge regular. I, like you am not too concerned about mpg as I pay for fuel in tax. Corker of a car. Beautiful in Brilliant Blue with rear tints, more so when it's clean. Love the artico grey interior contrast too.

Economy aside, no charge means no electric boost though.

I have done some calculations and without electrical assistance I estimate 0-60 will be 7.5 for the saloon and 7.7 for the estate which is still good but not quite as impressive.

You don’t even have to plug it in to get the pre heat/chill to work.
If you put it in charge the last miles of your trip you will have enough power for this to work.
Like if you are on the road mid summer and you know your car will be hotter than taco when you get back to the parking lot, you could use the power you charged by using petrol to chill down the car.
Basically you could use all functions without ever plugging it in.
Be aware of the fun found in Sport and Sport +

You never have no charge - it regens whenever you lift off and hence battery assist is always there if you want it!

Less than 48 hours ! Come on !

Hope it comes Monday morning

Indeed, mine usually charges up to 25% during a decent run, during which it still uses the electric boost on and off to smooth out acceleration when the turbo delays and when you put your foot down. It always appears to have sufficient charge to boost acceleration and when in sport+ mode it holds onto all regen for when you need it. I guess if you were to use it for continuous drag racing then maybe it would run out of juice. Maybe. Its right that putting it in manual charge boosts up to 30% quite quickly (2-3 miles) which is enough for the pre heat. Its good when you forget to set it that you can just unlock the car and it gets to work if it's cold outside (still need to book it in for the software temperature update). It's a technological wonder and for those who are due to get one soon, I can assure you it's worth the wait. Definitely the best car I've ever had. Oozes quality and a simple pleasure to drive.

This is without plugging in so in essence just using as a hybrid... Notice how much the engine is off also.... Hmmmmmm obviously not quite in the realms of the advertised 135mpg lol.

Hhmm... to help us understand these figures, could you say how many litres of petrol were used? Was it about 550? Or about 435? If the higher figure, it looks more like the mpg were nearer 25!:(

Has anybody got tips on the best home charge kits and best way of making the best for the government grant as my car is due in March and need to get the ball in motion

Have a look at the C350E owners club thread, this point has been discussed in recent pages.

MB nice enough to give me a 300h to test drive for a week. Actually wanted the 350e but was advised there is a 2 month waiting list.. yes 2 months! Fair to say this is a very popular car.
Anyways, just did a night drive from Ilkley back to south Leeds (circa 27 miles) in sport+ and the bad news is I only averaged a frightening low 29mpg. The good news is I made is back in record time, typically a 40 min drive done in just under 35 mins.
The 350e is more refined and a tad quicker than the 300h so with a clear and dry road, I wonder if sub 30 is possible[emoji14]
