C350e anyone considering one?

Code:

I am intrigued no end . How did you achieve such a discount ? Has the dealer produced a printout of the freeze date etc ?

All the brokers were offering around £5-6k discount, which is only 11-12% off, a few months ago, that's when I started looking.

I am jealous :) Have you got a build date yet ?

[QUOTEOne thing in there, the no cost option alloys on the Sport spec, 80R, what were these? They look like the normal ones?]

Yes I'm confused about that, I have ordered the 18s as a cost option if I recall so need to check out.[/QUOTE]

I think these are the darker colour ones, you can only have silver 17s now is what this means.

And I can't decide if I will have any wheels :)
We are told in the MY16 revisions that :
17” alloy wheels (Code 80R) ••••Discontinued

No mention of replacement

Interesting to me is the fact that I could not see an offer available on Drivethedeal's website for the 350e so it is remarkable that deals involving very deep discounts were available . It seems that an offer is unlikely from Drivethedeal on the 350e on the basis that the delivery date would be outside their offer conditions.

This was back at the start of the year, however, I had only had my X3 for 3 weeks, so I sort of ignored the deals, but I was still tempted with the contract hire deals at £260 a month plus vat, a hell of a lot of car for that sort of money.

350e - I negotiated the deal just after the car was announced - Feb I think. At that time the car wasn't eligible for the grant and Merc seemed keen to get orders established. I got a quote from DrivetheDeal and asked the dealer to match it - which he did. I asked the local dealer (where I have bought 3 new cars from) to also match it and they told me they couldn't get to within £ 5k !

I ordered mine in early June, didn't think we'd get any discount at all given the popularity but our fleet buyer negotiated 10%.

Think it's obviously driven by local competition between dealers

Been thinking this week... if i was not 4 months into my order, i think i would of canceled...

Why would you cancel ? It seems that your order will now be satisfied with MY 16 car which I am really pleased about.

But there isn't any other viable option at the moment which offers the same degree of performance, style and tax savings.

I don't fancy the Mitsi PHEV, ugly and slow, or the Golf.

Maybe this time next year the market will be swamped with alternatives such as the new A4 and Passat but currently it's a question of just sucking it up and waiting.

yeah, its just more due to the lead time for the car than anything else, i just think its crazy that theres a 9 month wait on a car which should be been built by now. It was pretty certain that there would be high demand and therefore this should of been factored into the release of the car.

I completely agree about £ for £, power etc nothing even comes close, its just a 9 month wait which i bet slips further !

In the tone of a spoilt child.... i want it NOW!

The A4 e-tron will be a good option if thinking EV, more so if its going Quattro - the a3 has a range of 31 miles.

I'm really torn...

I was sent the new company car list a few weeks ago and placed my order with our fleet department on 6th July. I had a confirmation back with a note about an 8 month wait and that if the grant is withdrawn my order will be cancelled

After finding this thread I'm really beginning to doubt I will ever actually see the car I have ordered, but at the same time, as has been said many times there is nothing else that compares for the money.

So do I just cut my losses and go for a Jaguar XE now or wait x months and probably end up ordering one anyway!

Order one. They're increasing production for the UK now, after the initial trickle of cars.

cool.. question for you JBD, Do you know it is taking them so long though? Surely they expected high demand and forecasted this when launching the car ? Is it the same with all new models to market do you know ?

Have there been any techincal memos detailing reasons rather than just factory stock.

Thanks

Don't panic. I ordered a C350e in April and was told delivery should be expected late July / August. I was then told, accompanied with a big apology, that I should now expect delivery late September early October.
I have no reason to expect that date to change. I asked the dealer if he was aware of the reason for the delay and he replied no, we are not told :(

I would try and wait for the C350e, the interior on it makes it worth it alone.

I have been looking at used MLs and maybe a new GLE, however, the new GLC has the C interior and that is making me think as it is so much nicer than even Mercedes own big brother.

what I am saying next is something that concerns the GLC but probably the C350e too?

If the GLC 350e was available I would order now, but that has been pushed back and is now said to be up to 18 months away.
This would be OK, but the new £40,000 tax limits will make it a strange choice, probably better to just order a GLC 250d instead.

I think Mercedes are going to have to have a serious rethink on these option packages too, keep them, but they need to allow you to spec individual items again.

On the GLE Sport I would choose Harman Kardon, ambient lighting and that is it, maybe comand (it comes with Garmin Nav as standard on the sport).

Problem is if I want ambient lighting I have to have prem plus with Pano roof (really don't want pano roof again) and all sorts of other options I am not interested in for £3000.
This pushes the car to £41k!

This would make it £450 a year to tax, if I could just choose ambient lighting (£300) the Harman (£600) Comand (around £1200 as a premium over the basic nav) it would be around £39,800 and would make it £150 year.

Not so worried about it myself, but in 4 years time when I sell it and get probably £16k for it will that buyer be happy paying £450 a year on car tax?

Probably not an issue anyway, as there is not GLC 350e in the UK yet and probably won't be before the new £40k tax limit either, so it might be the 250d and order now.
