It seems that you're not really understanding what I'm saying. There's a very big difference to panel filters in the original airbox, getting a nice cool airfeed from the intakes in the front grille, and a cone filter bolted free onto the intake manifold, sucking hot air from all around the engine bay. This is why a good cone filter install is boxed/shielded in and fed cold air from outside.
Of course it's not going to stop your engine from working, that's just ridiculous. They are known for causing issues with the MAFs, but that's not exactly catastrophic.
If you think a timed run is going to show the benefits above the normal variance of measurements, I'm curious as to just what sort of power gain are you expecting to see.
