Hi guys,

I bought new disks and pads from MB for my 2001 CLK55 (same as c43 & e55) but I'm wondering if there are any aftermarket alternatives to the MB pads.

The reason I ask is simple; brake dust and loads of it lol. The MB pads seem to shed so much brake dust it's unbelievable.

So can anyone suggest any aftermarket pads that'll do the trick?

Any improvement in performance would be a bonus but not necessary as long as they're as good as oem.

Cheers :D

Pagid do a set of uprated pads. I have them. Not fitted yet so not sure about dust.

Thanks mate,

I noticed EBC do Redstuff pads too.

I've had greenstuff pads before and while they're dustless they were SH*T!!

How much are the Pagid items? Can you supply them? I'll wait for your verdict on them before buying though lol.

Hi,
I have currently EBC Redstuff pads on my C43(55) and hate them, though I,m sure others would disagree, but speaking from experience I really dislike them and I am sure they have contributed to the premature wear on my discs. I,ll be using either the standard pads from MB or grab a set of the Pagids that Olly mentioned above.

The ebc pads are ****e.

Iirc the Pagid performance pads are about £250

EBC are very good on the dust front and stop really well, but saying that, they never fit correctly , squeel for 100 odd miles and as others have said can cain your disks.

akembono in the USA seem to be favoured there, but cannot get them in the uk.

Cheers guys!

£250 for the pagid pads?! I'm better off cleaning my wheels more often lol.

Let us know how you get on with them Olly, if they're THAT good then I might have to have a set. :)

I only use mb disks and pads , the dust is a pain but I know that I can stop When needs must.

Run bosch on mine, cost £50 and seem to be pretty good.

I didn't know that Bosch made brake pads...
In reply to the OP, I run EPC Yellowstuff with drilled OE discs on my C43. The Yellows do dust a bit but definitely less than the OE pads :D The initial bite when cold is excellent. The only negative comment I have is that they have a tendency to fade. OK I do plenty of mountain pass roads during the summer months where I know speed cameras have never been seen (for the moment...) and the tourist and local traffic is light. On downhill sections after a couple of heavy speed reduction brakes, the fade begins. Fluid is ATE Super Blue and should be sufficient. I could use Castrol SRF but it needs to be flushed on a regular basis, not forgetting the cost...
I may try the Pagid pads which I know well from my circuit years in a Porsche 964RS. Never had a problem with them :thumb:

Thanks mate.

Which disks are you using? None of the OEM 55/43 disks i've seen are drilled??

I want! :D

I got them in Germany through a company called Ultimot: Ultimot GmbH - Bremsen- und Motor-Tuning
They take OE discs and drill them. You have the choice of front and rear drilled discs.
Here's a photo of my set-up:

Just my two cents - but I have EBC turbo discs and green stuff pads on my current car and wished I'd never
