Looking at changing my 2017 C43 to a 2015 C63. Any experiences would be appreciated. Biggest pro is V8 but losing 4matic. Anyone else made the move?

I’ve no experience of the C43, but I have had lots of Quattro Audi’s so love 4WD. Traction isn’t a problem on a 63 provided you have quality tyres and they’re up to operating temperature before you attempt any heroics.Looking at changing my 2017 C43 to a 2015 C63. I am looking at the non 'S' in my budget is there much difference overall for day to day.I’ve no experience of the C43, but I have had lots of Quattro Audi’s so love 4WD. I’ve had my C63S for 3 years and quickly discovered it is an extremely competent car, both on track and on road.
Make the move, I guarantee you won’t regret it.
Day to day you probably won’t notice a difference in driving, but things like the sports seat's make a big difference if you’re pressing on - very supportive. I would highly recommend getting a car with the switchable exhaust though, if like me you like some ‘theatre’ when you’re drivingI am looking at the non 'S' in my budget is there much difference overall for day to day.
Drive an S and a non-S before you make a decision because everyone loves the way that S seats look, but sitting in them can be a bit marmite - some people absolutely love them for comfort and support, and others crawl out in pain.I am looking at the non 'S' in my budget is there much difference overall for day to day.
Pop some quality winter tyres on from October to April and be amazed how much more confidence you’ll have in cold and wet weather. Snow becomes easy with winter tyres on cars like the C 63 S, and even more extreme. In fact the more extreme the car, the more noticeable the difference in performance using winter tyres.I would not take it out n snow personally. I was initially cautious driving it due to fears of losing grip, however gradually gained confidence pushing it harder from month to month.
I’ve run a 2017 C43 Coupe new briefly and then changed to a new C63S Coupe. I’d echo the comments above. You can exploit more of the C43‘s performance on the road and the AWD makes it a good all round package. It’s fairly docile overall. The C63S is a big step up in performance, both outright acceleration and also for torque that you can just surf along with. However, It’s a harder riding car. Winters on mine made it all year usable.Looking at changing my 2017 C43 to a 2015 C63. Any experiences would be appreciated. Biggest pro is V8 but losing 4matic. Anyone else made the move?
You could sell him your 204, I’m sure he has £15k cash waitingTest drive the 204 c63 it might surprise you over the 205
My wife prefers the 205![]()
A C 63 on winter tyres will be just fine, and will be safer and more able to deal with snow and slippery conditions than a C 43 (4matic) on ultra high performance summer tyres.Thread revival!
I’ve been out of a Mercedes AMG for a while now, I defected to the lairy RWD TVR camp, and then Audi R/S Quattro camp for some years,
Now sold the Audi and looking around at e and c AMGs,
Much like many threads I have read on here I got a bit lazy I guess. I became addicted to the endless slingshot of power and complete grip irrespective of weather. To the point where c63s and such were easy to outclass on road rallies, especially in soaking wet misty days around Welsh and European mountains.
Fast forward to now and I am between c63 and c43. If my older gen RWD v8 AMG was anything to go by, Mercedes TC on big engine RWD cars that couldn't be switched off unless in dyno mode, rendered the car useless in icy conditions (many times I couldn’t even move off my driveway), it was so ridiculously over sensitive.
So given me previous Mercedes RWD experience and my recent never ending Quattro grip experience, I find myself gravitating to a 4matic, then map it and stick a carbon kit on it, and go around roads like they are a rollercoaster (if 4matic is compatible to Quattro).
But, part of me says knowing there’s a .hotter. Version in the c63 might make me unhappy or wondering about the c63 always.
There is a c43 local, but as that’s easier to go see and it’s the weekend and I have some time, Inam going to go see the 63 first which is further away.
I think .i prefer the look of the C class, but the interior on the E looks so much nicer.
I’d agree with this. I’ve run a C43 Coupe and then a C63S Coupe and put a factory OEM winter pack (alloys and tyres) on the 63. It certainly copes with bad weather.A C 63 on winter tyres will be just fine, and will be safer and more able to deal with snow and slippery conditions than a C 43 (4matic) on ultra high performance summer tyres.
I’m going to be totally unapologetically biased here - if you want to keep the security of AWD and still feel like you’re in a RWD car, get an E63. I moved from C63S to E63S last year and haven’t regretted it for one minute.Thread revival!
My old CLK, rear wheel drive only with winter tyres, used to embarass BMW X3, X5's etc, every winter, even in 6" of fresh snow pulling away from standing starts at traffic lights etc.A C 63 on winter tyres will be just fine, and will be safer and more able to deal with snow and slippery conditions than a C 43 (4matic) on ultra high performance summer tyres.
