C450 AMG coming in June 2016

Correct.
There are 100 different positions on that right pedal, control is the key.
Quite so, and only one of them releases all the horsepower you paid for. AMG products have always had more engine than chassis, but now it's just embarrassing. It has nothing to do with driving skill (for some of us, at least) and everything to do with how much power you can deliver to the road. Anyone with reasonable reactions and some training can drive a RWD performance car right to the limit of its adhesion, no one can drive it past those limits without going slower. As Alx points out, the ability to jump in a >400bhp car and stomp on the throttle in any weather *without* the traction control kicking in, hence having all your power available for use, is not the province of RWD. Some of us find applying opposite lock off wet roundabouts tedious rather than entertaining, and it's certainly not quick.....

However, this argument will never go away, so keep having fun going slowly! If I lived back in Tucson, I would likely have an AMG (or a 'vette!), but I live in rural UK with rough, wet, muddy roads, so I have an Audi.

Quicker than understeering off in your Audi .....

Do you have a link to your Audi Forum , so I can share my thoughts on the C63 ?

Aah, clearly you cannot drive a performance AWD car! :-)
Floor it down the straight, hammer the brakes, lift off and chuck in to unsettle the rear, then floor it on the apex and use all that traction to slingshot out. Of course, if you're used to driving an AMG, this will spit you off just before the apex...
As with all performance cars, you adjust your driving style to suit the vehicle. I have the advantage of both to play with, I certainly don't drive the tail-happy SLK in the same way as the S7. Hammer the brakes on entry, ease off and turn in smoothly to avoid unsettling the car, ease on the power as you pass the apex, flooring when she's about straight. Different strokes for different folks. Or, if you just want to flaunt your driving skills, floor it at the apex and prepare to apply as much opposite lock as you dare. You'll be going more slowly, but you'll have achieved why you bought an AMG - LOOK AT ME, DRIVING GOD!

Instead of all that ^^ you'd have been as quick simply posting:

"I don't know how to handle powerful RWD cars and because of this I assume that no-one else can".

I don't use the Audi forums (fora?), aside from technical issues with the old TT, as we don't get the same entertainment from the 'you can't handle a RWD car' brigade......
C63 with the 6.2 engine is one of the best AMGs, but still has more power than can be used much of the time, especially at sane speeds on UK secondary roads. Love that engine though, it's a classic, and sadly never will be seen again!

See my other posts, I'm perfectly happy sliding a powerful RWD car, my point is that it is not as fast as simply flooring a powerful AWD car. This is however exactly the kind of response I expect from the kind of medallion man who would buy a fast Jag, even more notorious than AMG for having way more engine than chassis - hence why they've had to make the hot F-type AWD to make any sales......
OTOH, If we were not badge snobs and were truly interested only in fast driving, we'd all be driving Nissans! :-)

Come on, you've been quite witty up to this point, is "medallion man" the best you can come up with?

I'd have thought you'd have at least thrown in a reference to driving gloves?

That's because a prerequisite to Audi ownership is to have the excitement gene extracted from your being and in its place a little chip that makes them say:

"I like to use all of the power, all of the time"

and

"Yah, I was going to buy an RS3 but bought a 1.6 TDi instead because they're both baaaasicaly the same"

and

"Bought a Mercedes did you? You old man you!"

Etcetera

When what they really want is big hairy balls that'll give them the talent to drive a V8 RWD that doesn't have to pump the sound through the speakers because the exhaust note is so feeble...

Thank god for that info, I can drive properly now.

Guys, I'm off to blow up the E63 tonight, it really is pile of crap after being converted by Audi God. Does anyone want it's engine before I do so ?

Madstew, can you get me a deal on a A1 1.6 tdi Quattro so I can start learning how to drive like you ?

Wot, like Arfur Daley wore? :-)

I guess we'll never get away from Clarkson's classic take on it, "I have a Jaaaag, so I seem to have forgotten my wallet".

Nearly bought an XK-R once, really pretty in red with white leather, nice place to sit, great sound system, but no traction.

Hmmmm, that's super tempting, the E63 engine fitted into a car that can actually use all that torque and power! Oh, wait, that would be an RS6 Performance.....
Sorry, you'll need at least an RS3 if you want to learn how to drive a properly fast car on UK roads. We're not talking track days here, just real driving on real roads. If all you want to do is have fun at medium speeds, consider an MX-5.

Why do you have an SLK ? Surely another TT would be better for the 4wd fun ?

Ah no, what you really need is the Gaffer's Rover P6 V8. Complete with parking tickets strewn all over the back seats.

Thanks for confirming my suspicion that you believe that owning a V-8 Jaaag will magically give you big hairy balls - and driving talent.

Sadly, I'm old enough to have fancied one of those, it was a class act in its day! As was the XJ, when cars had less power and hence less need for AWD traction.
