C450 AMG coming in June 2016

My point is cars like that are destined for failure in the UK, people won't buy it as it is pointless when you can spend a little bit more and get the whole thing.

On this I disagree and I have a little bit of inside info on this from the dealer currently supplying my SL. These will go like hotcakes.

We'll only know in hindsight. But I have a feeling these cars will attract a lot of Audi S and BMW M Sport drivers.

This has been discussed before. In short, if I fit a set of Brabus brakes to my car, can I call it a Brabus?

Aftermarket Brabus brakes fitted on your drive to your 5 year old C class, no.

How about if you took delivery of the car brand new from Brabus with Brabus suspension, Brabus brakes, Brabus remap and Brabus tuning?

Not quite so clear then is it?

That's what the C450 AMG is - a grey area, and I find it interesting.

ok well your the one throwing the cheap shots..... So i won't go there about the E220 diesel being a "fantastic drive" and how you get wonderful mpg from your tractor. Its not an AMG... Why put it in your title, it has AMG aesthetics, just like an M Sport has M aesthetics.

Folks like you never understand that as you haven't owned one of these cars. So yes i am defensive. I think its quite clear the market they are appealing to with this car. Just like BMW have with their M division 1 and 2 series.

Have a gander at this and then maybe you will understand the difference between AMG and AMG line
Mercedes-AMG

Enough AMG DNA??? a monkey has enough human DNA it doesn't make it a human though does it??

Your argument that this is a genuine AMG is futile.

Looking at the pictures the brakes are nothing like the AMG brakes!?

No there is a difference between Max Powered and tuning your car, big difference.... So lets not get into that argument. You will loose that especially in this forum..

He won't "loose" he was merely making the point about the "standard" figures.

I think the C450 AMG will be a good car and is aimed at those who want similar performance but a little more understated, along the lines of an Audi S4 etc and if anything it'll be more aligned to the original ethos of AMG than the current chav-fest.

Ok your on an AMG thread talking to someone who has a tuned AMG and you have a diesel and have never experienced ownership how can you possibly comment?

I mean looking through your threads about Printers and ink cartridges, and setting up LAN lines and all sorts of unrelated material i would say the posts are more suited to another forum.

ohhhhhhh man!!! Here come the AMG chav comments..... Ok cool.... Im not even going to bother commenting......

If a chav can afford an AMG, then congratulations to him, he is doing good!

Funny lad, you all get quite precious about this don't you.

I've run V8's as a daily drive and it grew old as I grew old, I used to have a lovely 560 SEC with AMG modifcations (amoung other things), that was back in the day before any of these conversations existed. As AMG back then was like Brabus is now, all parts that were stuck on after the MB left the production line.

So I now have a tractor estate as a daily to slog around in traffic and an SL for weekends, it suits me and I enjoy my motoring.

I didn't put AMG in the title of either of my cars (or add a badge to the boot or anywhere else for that matter) the manufacturer did that. it's good marketing.

I think the C450 AMG has a shout at the name, but like I keep saying, I see it as a grey area, not so clear cut as the "lesser" models.

Sore subject obviously..

Audi safe guard themselves with the branding of S and RS..

Obviously theres a big difference to the 63 brand, but i can see how the AWD is appealing to certain people.

For me one of the reasons among many i went for the CLA45 over the 63, was the fact i do a lot of business in Germany, and other countries that have far harsher winters than the UK. Another reason is the C63 is perhaps too much too soon for me, spectacular car for sure though!

This is kind of where I am on this model, although I would have probably chosen a different phrase to end the sentence as there's a lot of hair triggers in this part of the forum.

how are you going to say i am max powering cars when you were doing that on your cars........ Hypocrite!!! Lol

The 4WD bit of the 450's looks very appealing. The UK market does seem to get the rough end of the deal with very few AMG 4Matics.

I've found that, in life, people are only offended at that which is true, if not; it isn't.

I've owned 10 AMG's, does that make me a chav? I keep trying but I've not quite reached it yet, although my hankering after a matte black X6 must surely get me close to ultimate chav-ness.

Woosh......That's the sound of much of the point and content of this thread going over your head. In the nicest possible way of course.

I suppose a lot will depend on the RRP here in the UK. If the price is right, I think it will slot in nicely between the V8 AMG cars and the others. 4WD and a 0-60 time in under 5 seconds is quite impressive on paper, although V6 engines just don't give you that famous noise we all know and love, but hey, in the real world or ( future) V8's are defo heading for the Automobile graveyard……

It's looking like it's in the £46-£50K range according to MB Gatwick. They have a huge amount of interest for it.

If MB call it an AMG then it is.

They own both brands, spending £XXX per month does not buy you any decision making on this.

That's exactly my point. A set of AMG brakes fitted to a 220 or 450 doesn't make them an AMG.

You make it sound that for a Brabus to be true it has to come from Bottrop brand new and bear Bodo Buschmann's finger tips even if it's a remapped 220cdi. To me Brabus is first of all an engine, not the brakes, wheels, bodykit or a remap.

Not quite so clear then is it?

Very clear to me. No engine - no badge.

That's what the C450 AMG is - a grey area, and I find it interesting.

You want it to be so that's fine with me. Doesn't make it an AMG one bit.
