C55 AMG v Audi S4

SteveA, how are you finding the Lexus ISf? My pal is thinking about one....

Would you consider a E63/C63. Many on here like them. BMW do an M3 saloon which I reckon will be a cracking piece of kit

The lexus ISF was a weapon. Ask Palmball on here (andy) hes now got a 911TT but had a c63 amg which was fettled to aboyt 560 hp.

We went to a meet and drove quite quickly, he never gained on me at all. At one time all 4 wheels left the ground! lol

The gearbox was superb, 8 speed lightning fast shifts best box ive owned. The box in the C63 was slow as, pull the lever wait..............gearbox changes.
Intake noise at and above 3600 rpm was orgasmic, but was quieter at idle than the c63
Best stereo ever Mark levinson jobby, utterly without distortion.
Touchscreen nav was ace
Suspension was comfortable but firm.
Loved the seats.

I bought it from Glasgow and on my journey home to manchester i recorded an average 28.2mpg if id have staed at 70 it was doing 32mpg which is mental for a 5L V8

Only reason i sold it was i needed a bigger car, if i could have justified the spend id still have it. The Mrs now drives a mini cooper and the lexus is **** on storage, the seats dont split and i was hiring estate cars for trips and business so decided i need something bigger, which is why i now have a E250CGI ESTATE

Alan Partridge drives a Lexus

Dont knock the ISF mate until youve driven one, its everybit as good as the C63 imo it is a better car. However we all like different things eh:)

How is it better?

Is it sharper, is the gearbox better, engine smoother.

I agree its a cracking car, and my mate has seen them drop nicely in used prices.

Evo had one and they loved it.

The Audi S4 is the worst car I have ever had the mispleasure to own, it really did fail in every single area, oh, the interior was quite nice and......no, that was the only positive.

.

Interesting .. I've been looking at them up against a C32 (mainly because they're manual), but a little scared off by tales of terrible mpg! I need a 4 door practical(ish) car and can't really find anything else to compare to an '04 C32 or S4 of similar vintage? So far for me, the AMG path seems more "special" ...

335i maybe??

Also try a 330i sport, an absolute blinding car that is a real pleasure to drive and does decent mpg.

Yeah, I've kinda been there in the past, but they're just a bit ... well ... common! And there's a certain reputation!

Plus, trying to stick to a £10k budget, I think I may struggle to find a 335i in particular!

There is a reason that there are so many out there though. ;)

S4 in auto guise would be worth considering, it is the manual that pushed it just too far for me.

Also, I think Audi has a far worse reputation than BMW these days?

I'm already struggling with coming to terms with an AMG auto, never mind on a car where I could have a choice of manual!! ;o)

Did read your earlier comments on the ratios though, so understood.:thumb:

Not just the ratios, the pedal height and twisted offset Is the real killer.

At least the C63 exhaust tailpipes are in some way connected to the engine ;)
