c63 aftermarket wheels

Hi There,

I am probably going to go for a C63 that has 18's as it is the perfect spec (aside from the wheels!).

As a result, I may be swayed to getting a set of 19's in the future and am interested to see what other owners have gone for.

As much as the multispoke 19's look good, I only feel that they look the best when they are black, with the red calipers showing through!

Any ideas?

Black multispokes with standard brakes isnt too shabby:thumb:

I often toyed with the idea of aftermarket wheels when I had my C63 but never had the balls to do it for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, the 19" multispokes look 'right' on the car and there aren't that many aftermarket wheels that look better (subjective, I know).

Secondly, the offset on C63's are massive (thats the distance between the centre line of the wheel width to the the hub). The bigger the offset the further away the hub is from the centre line of the wheel width. This pushes the part of wheel that sits on the hub 'out'....i.e. closer to the outside of the wheel and therefore this can result in a very shallow 'dish' which is why the C63's wheels look to have quite a 'flat' surface in comparison to say, a set of BMW M3 wheels. This big offset also limits the choice of wheels that fit without rubbing or rear arch modifications.

However, I was very nearly swayed by a set of 19" Forgestar F14's - a popular wheel choice with the US C63 owners (some of those guys have very odd tastes though!).

It was the shot below in particular which tempted me however in the end I thought that the 'look' was as much influenced by the impractical ride height, incorrect wheel offset (it has to be wrong...look how far the rears come out compared to the stock wheels - they will no doubt rub on the body frequently) and finally, the wheels looked to 'Audi' like for my liking!

I agree Palmball...

The only wheel i can think that might possibly 'look the part' on a 63 would be a proper BBS LM . Give it that touring car look.

I see what you're saying but by the looks of the picture, it looks like the guy has down-sized the width of the rear tyres to give a narrower shoulder to overcome rubbing issues.

The "stretched" look, I believe it is called.

black on black just looks wild - this is my vision when I get one

BBS LM's would set it apart, the whole black wheel thing is over played i think, a tad chavvy too! I know i cant say anything as i have black wheels on the mini but i regret it now.

You lose the design of the wheel as black doesnt reflect the shape of it. Just looks bland imo

i'm possibly going for 19's soon,... now i can't decide what colour to go for. the car is palladium silver (if that helps)

Palladium Silver and Matt Black Wheels
the wheels are great , they dont show the dirt you hardly need to wash them
