C63 AMG top speed?

During my recent European road trip I spent some time on the German autobahns and managed to get to the speed limiter on my C63 coupe during a quiet stretch.

Does anyone know what these will do when the limiter is removed? (standard)
I got to 160mph in 5th gear @ 6500rpm so still had some to go and 6th & 7th gears before hitting the limiter.

(I'd like to add, the passenger took this picture)

The calculated theoretical top speed is 186 mph based upon these variables - happy to recalculate if you have better or different values.

transmission losses 18%
engine power (at the flywheel) 450.5 BHP
engine power (at the wheels) 369 BHP
engine power (at the wheels) 275 kW
vehicle track 1.659 m
vehicle height 1.433 m
maximum vehicle cross section 2.14 m*m
vehicle mass (weight) (kg) 1730 kg
air density 1.202 kg/(m*m*m)
drag coefficient 0.32

I hope this helps

186mph. Cheers, anyone know how much this differs with a map? Not that I think I could get to these speeds unless at a VMax event.

Assuming your remap gives the typical 510 BHP at the crank, then the calculated theoretical top speed is 195 mph

Supercharge it to 700 BHP and calculated theoretical top speed increases to 219 mph

It's worth remembering that top speed is not product of engine power alone but also gear ratios in the gearbox and final drive in the diff.

craig darrah took his to about as far as any sane person would but top speed became a issue with the c63 which is why he moved over to a porsche
the c63 is very heavy and the gearing will hold it back

Supercharged C63 on Autobahn goes off the clock and still keeps accelerating ( revs still climbing in 7th gear)

Remember your tyre choice when you get upto these speeds, even straight line for a relatively short duration

If you get a blow out, you're not walking away.......

A lot of people seem to forget that when delimiting a car, you need to have the correct rated tyres otherwise it could end badly

Mine showed a speedo indicated 200 with limiter removed. Allowing for error this is in the 190+ territory I imagine.

The front end gets a bit light.

Mines showed 180 ish with 4 people, still had more to give. Front end does get light though lol

Yeah, above 170 is very light at the front. I got 181mph at VMax and it had plenty more to give with unlimited road.

Scary speeds, I had new MPSS on the car.
I'm not looking to go any faster then the 160mph. I doubt ill go that quick again.

Most cars with 550bhp ought to be able to crack 200 .

Takes big balls and a lot of stupidity to do that on a UK public road (unless you fancy 6 months plus in prison !)

Do it in the controlled environment of top speed competition events :thumb:

Nah , CBA, besides , I have big balls and I'm pretty stupid !

The M40 at 3am in the morning between junctions 2 and 3 , great place to crack the magic 200 ;)

I gather u must be just joking! Definitely not something for real on a public forum. ;)
