Looking To Buy W205 C63 AMG Wagon

Had a g20 m340i for the grand whole of...2 months. Lost a lot of money but needed to get back into a c63. Got a 17 plate 1 owner with 21k miles on the clock. The best decision I've made. Period :)
Thanks for the message. So what was the main reason then mate ? I’ve heard the new x drive M340i are pretty good and get the power down better than my RWD previous generation.

It was just the best all round daily driver with zero drama/emotion. It puts power down really well, inspires a lot of confidence, B58 is really smooth when needed. In order to hear that engine though, you needed to be high up in the rev range and that meant going very fast. So I decided to take the plunge as a really good one owner example came up and made the change.

Good Morning All,

Just resurrecting this thread as I am back looking for a 205 C63 Wagon. I’ve had a bit of an unlucky time since my last post, with deposits down on two cars and the deals fell through so I have started thinking maybe it’s not meant to be !

Anyway it may have worked in my favour slightly the time that has passed as the prices seem to have come down quite a lot.

I was discussing an S model this week but it had the Iridium matt paint I don’t like the sound of after speaking to my paint guy / Detailer.

If anyone has anything coming up or knows of a car for sale please let me know.

Ideally I want the Panoramic Sunroof & the AMG Switchable Exhaust.

Thanks
Tom

Evening All,

So I am in the process of placing a deposit on this car after confirming a deal.

Anyway after letting someone else know out of courtesy I would not be pursuing there car they have since mentioned the car I am going for was up for sale for a period of time running some heavy mods and circa 700bhp so naturally I am put off.

Does anyone know of this car and its history before I make the jump ?

Any help / information would be very much appreciated.

Thanks
Tom

The Autotrader advert specifically states its not been modified:doh:
I'd want to find out 100% before paying.
A Mercedes specialist could determine with STAR if its had the ECU remapped. Worth a inspection before buying I'd say.
Also its been up for sale since Sept 23.
That's a long time with no sale even with a £6 k + reduction in price.
I'd be very wary of this car despite it looking fine.

Thanks for the message AMGeed. I agree, starting to think somethings not quite right on this one annoyingly.

It's a lot of cash for a car that may turn out not to be what its advertised as.
That long interval being up for sale puts me off too.

Totally agree with all points made. I was taken in with the main dealer history that seemed to be spot on and I was thinking surely a heavily modified car would not go to a main dealer ?!

Looks like my search goes on ! Dont think it’s meant to be this (This was my 3rd time lucky attempt at a C63)

You'd be suprised at how many modified cars still get serviced at the main dealers. My last E63 was and as long as they were informed, no software updates on the ECU it was fine.

Don't worry about missing out on this one. There will be a better one with your name on it.
Just keep searching. One will come up.

Thanks for the messages AMGeed, appreciate it. it’s only taken me a few years to get to this point 😂

You could have that or any other you look at inspected and plugged in etc by a good indicator (plus do a reverse image search on Google, it can be revealing)

I did that when I bought my AMG recently (Terry at Wayne Gates as an example)

Morning Fabes, how would I go about something like this ? Would it be a case of needing to take a specialist with me who has the equipment ?

If you tell 'us' where the car is, people can advise a 'local to it', trusted indi.

In my case, it being a private sale, I called Terry in advance so we could agree a time for the seller and I to drive the car to him so he could put it on his ramp, plug in Star / Xentry prod, poke and shake the car.

It took 45 mins and cost £100
He did find a couple of things, but his summary was, I'd buy it, so I did.

Some independents will travel but obviously will charge for that time.
They can bring a mobile MB system / code reader, but underside access will be less thorough unless the seller has ramps.
On a substantial value performance car, a run of the mill non specialist trader should understand this.
The trader will also get an insight into the car, which if poor, he will at least know what he has to sort (or not....)

A local main dealer may offer the same but cost you hundreds more (and I doubt it)

But making calls when you line a car up will be the way forward.

If the seller refuses, run, don't walk.

And do do the Google reverse search.
It's too easy not to do (plus something like a Car Vertical, if only because you can theses days)
My CV check highlighted o/ s finance which in fairness the seller was open about as we walked around the car, but what if he hadn't been....

PS CV doesn't explain stock or inventory finance which is common place for dealers to have and isn't the same.

I didn't clock that the above would also be a private sale, so I would recommend going to an indis own garage if at all possible

That car does look very, very nice
Doesn't appear abused....

Can't comment on price, but appears worth a little organisation and £100 inspection if it's a good one (from your research)

Whereabouts is it?

Thanks for your time here fabes and all the information, totally agree with everything and makes sense.

The car is in Newcastle.

What is this Google reverse search ? I’ve never heard of that before.

The indi inspection is a no brainer if I can get someone there, I have never done that before though when buying a used car I usually find out the problems down the line unfortunately 😩.

The seller seems genuine and all the history stacks up and it’s the exact spec I would want in particular being an S model. I have got it at a lower price and was paying a deposit last night until I received a message saying the above (That the cars been for sale ages and was highly modified and then reverted back to stock) so I have obviously paused on the deposit.

the Ad states it is facelifted. Perhaps he means the fake grill.
Two former keepers is good if true. I would say people may have been out off by the huge price of the car previously vs the mileage. My old c63s estate was 2018 and was recently listed for 36k with 49k miles when prices were more punchy generally and that sold quickly.
You're currently not spoiled for choice unfortunately:

However there's a couple more that are on sale by dealers that you possibly could negotiate on price and they have good options like the black one and potentially get high quality warranty for piece of mind.
However best to coordinate a specialist to perform an inspection and check codes etc. At 69k miles, worth checking whether all other shocks have been changed apart from the problematic front passenger one , and also the last time the rotors were changed plus on these ones the coil packs seem to go , you can ask whether replaced at any point though they're not a big job it seems.

Any idea what the engine cover and undertrays fitted MOT advisories could be referring to ?

Hi Truespirit,

So on the shocks front and things like that it all sounds spot on and I’m not to fussed about these type of things as I always expect stuff to need doing down the line when buying used it’s more this discussion on if it’s been heavily modified and then brought back to standard as then it’s a lottery on how hard a life the engine and diff have had.

I’m going to look into doing an inspection and see if the seller will be ok with that, in the event he is not I think then it’s time to walk away.

I suppose I am slightly concerned it’s been around a while and have asked the question his replies seem realistic I suppose (Was trying to get a high price at a particular time when the market was strong and it never materialized) appreciate everyone’s input to this point.
