C63 purchasing

WOW, mpg figures like that put a shudder down my spine! :D

If I had a car like that I think SWMBO would divorce me! LOL!

I might buy a C63 (or any V8 for that matter), having just discovered my wife's average mpg for the past year has been 15mpg...in a RAV4 !!

Understandable! Wish my Dad had something like that for me to play with! :D Best he had was a very slow '75 S Class company car which I drove once.... :D

My wife is really pushing us towards a Lexus Hybrid (GS or RX) so my days in an MB are numbered (partly because I chose badly and the CLS has been a money pit) and the odds of me selling the concept of a C63 et al are so remote I could fly myself to the moon before it happened! :D:D

Very well. Can we put this to bed now please? Refer to the Continental link below.

Continental Tires -What does 205/55 R 16 91 V actually mean?

The link to the Continental website doesn't tell you exactly what the Manufacturer specification indicates.

In the case of Mercedes, I have no idea. But I can relay (to those interested) that for motorbikes, the manufacturer's code indicates (possibly among other things) the weight rating of the tyre. For example, Continental make a number of versions of the popular 190-wide rear tyre. The standard tyre is a fit-for-all tyre that may end up being fitted on any bike with an appropriate rim. However, they also produce other versions of exactly the same tyre bearing manufacturer's codes that dictate the level of support (stiffness) of the sidewall.

I discovered this when there was an error on the Continental website that listed an incorrect fitment - my lightweight BMW bike ended up with a tyre for a BMW tourer. Visibly the tyre was correct but it had been designed to support twice the weight that I was putting on it. The Technical Manager for Continental UK talked me through the issue (and replaced the tyre).

I know that the tyres on Bentleys are all marked with a "B" to indicate that the tyrewall is capable of supporting the black-hole-imploding forces that the vehicle imparts to the tyres. The tyre is outwardly the same as the "stock" tyre but it is only the "B" tyre that is authorised for fitment to the car.

The brief wasn't to prove WHAT they changed, but that they changed anything at all, and that link does do that. ;

My Wife may have her faults but one thing she is ACE at is not giving a Toss what she drives as long as it looks good.

She lets me buy what ever I like and never sticks her oar in at all! :D

Thanks.

I had stopped visiting this forum because it was getting edgy and the tone had changed, but I missed it. You have reminded me why it would have been best to not bother with it anymore.

To be fair, my wife has been very tolerant of my car decisions over the years, baring in mind I often change them in under a year of owning and have two or three at the same time! But, after the disaster with the CLS, she's had enough and I have to agree.

I will be moving on from modern MBs soon. I stressed modern MBs as I may well dip into a classic one in a while, probably an 80s SL... :) But I've had my fill of recent ones. Three out of four were lemons. Too much for me.

I hope I can still come here for a chat when my MB has gone though... :)

Cheers Charles! :D
