Hi guys!

C63 w204 coupe 43500 miles.

I have noticed it shakes / judders knocks on idle Almost exactly how I saw a 2017 thread on here describe.

Can it hear knock as it idles and every few seconds do Louder knock, Rev needle never ever moves though from it.

It’s more noticeable in D when stationery too? Does that mean it’s likely to be the engine mounts,

No loss of power or actual rough running.

Anyone had any similar? So many causes I’ve read online and don’t know where to start and have no engine codes! Bluergh.

If it’s noticably worse in D and less in N I’d be investigating the engine mounts first, and the gearbox rear mounting too. Cam and bucket wear does affect these, but harshness when in drive and less in P and N says mounts to me

Thank you.

Shall I just get those mounts changed as will have to pay labour for someone to check them anyway, may aswel change them while there?

A specialist who knows these cars will tell you within five minutes if the mounts are good or not. ;)

^X2 trust Jobsworth.

another thing could try is have the brake pressed hard on the pedal and select D or R and press the accelerator pedal. Check for significant engine movement. Obviously need to have the hood popped open. Should be able to see from the driving seat or if you could get someone from the side to video the engine with a phone.

Thanks!

Just done that and wow the engine moves up and down so much!!

Hopefully will feel much tighter once Alex at AMF in Tonbridge kindly does this job on Friday for me!

My E63 engine used to rattle around like a bag of spanners before I did engine & gearbox mounts - what a difference!

Good to hear! I thought the cams were gone or an expensive leak somewhere so quite happy with this fairly wallet friendly (for an AMG) fix!

Did they not tell you when you bought it what AMG stands for? All Money Gone... 😀
