Been to the stealers for my anual service!
Once picked the car up they made me pay 120£ for an update?
Dose this even exist on 2013 model....surely it has got all previous updates by now!?!?
Im already dealing with head office about the issue that it was done without my consent and i got charged for something i did not authorise!

It's probably a command update, and hopefully not a factory engine map 'upgrade'. Better go for a spirited drive and find out - though that might be a challenge in this weather! Like iphones and the like these updates are one-way.

I always assume main dealers will apply any service charges they deem necessary (i.e. can in some way justify that 'most people' would want), unless you specifically tell them to inform you of anything that will cost you extra over the standard service cost.

They may argue it has to be done via SDS and takes 1.5 hours, though I think it can in fact be DIY with the correct service DVD.

I was asked about this by my dealer and I refused before hand. Where did you get the car serviced?

It is odd that they carried out additional work without asking you first. Definitely query it.

Up in the Lakes Marshall Ulverston.
Also now i dont know should i re-upload my eurocharged Map onto the car...HELP!!!
I do return it to stock map when i take it in for service but otherwise i run the Eurocharged Map..,
Now im worried i will brick my ECU if they really updated something!
They were talking some bs to me as i did tell that the high beam assist packed in!
They told me when picking up the car that they fixed it with a software update and it costs 120.
I think they told me this because i did say that i was not informed about the cost of diagnosis.
If they told me I would refused it.
Of course the high beam assist still is not working

So when bringing the car in for a service, you asked the dealer to check why High Beam Assist isn't working.

You were not notified at the time of any diagnostic fee that may apply.

When collecting the car, you were told that the High Beam Assist fault was fixed by a software update and the cost is £120.

Your current issues are:

1. Why did they proceed with a paid repair without first asking for your approval.

2. In any case, the software update did not fix the problem with the High Beam Assist.

3. You are concerned that because they have updaed the software on the High Beam Assist ECU, you will no longer ne able to load the Eurocharged map to the Engine ECU.

Is this correct?

If so, then you are right about 1 and 2, and you should go back to the dealer and refuse to pay for a repair that you did not authorise.

As for 3, I don't know much about the Eurocharged remapping, but on a general note I find it unlikely that updating the software on the High Beam Assist ECU will have any affect on the engine ECU.

Yes Mate!

Al the above observations as 100% spot on

My frien who also happens to have a C63 had been to the same issue with his gearbox making a wierd noise on shifts.
They told him on the spot that the diagnostic will be 120.
Few hours later they told him that the software is updated...his problem still presist.
My guess is that they just run the diagnostics, maybe clear codes and say we have updated

I had a 2013 C63 in for service a few months ago. I have long complained about the transmission and on each occasion have been told that the transmission “checks out fine sir”. At this service I am told that there has been a software update released for the TCU/ECU. With the car still under warranty, and assuming at long last that my complaint was finally being addressed, I authorise them to proceed.
On picking the car up I see that I have been charged AUD 220 for this software instal. It is considered an operational improvement and NOT a repair of a fault and thus not covered by warranty.
What I will say is that it does make quite a difference to the transmission. Much smoother shifts in C, faster in S/S+, and the general hesitancy/clumsiness in low speed stop start driving is improved. I would absolutely recommend getting it done. But don’t let the dealer know this - tell them you were perfectly happy with the car - and see if you can get them to pick up the tab for not getting your authority to proceed with the instal.

Did you pay the £120? That reduces your options, especially if you already have a similar dispute in progress, i.e. Having been charged for (and the paid for) work which you had not authorised.

You could complain retrospectively to the dealership or add it to your existing dispute, but in my opinion it could weaken your case on the existing dispute, as it could lead to those reviewing the case to conclude that you serially "try it on". I'm not saying you are, but those on the other side of the fence might not see it that way with two similar issues in short order, i.e. a second before the first is settled.

Good luck

There is a firmware update for COMAND of the era and £120 sounds okay. They should at least confirm to you that's what they did.

It enables full postcode use and BT audio streaming so if you can now do that, that is what it was.
Cheek though, and I would not have paid unless I agreed it (my new to me car) came with the update already done by the selling trader at MB.

I also would not use a main dealer with your age of car......

That's also my local dealer so I am a little concerned when mine goes in for a service. Be interesting to follow your outcome on this issue

The otcome is:
Im going back tomorrow as I have another Merc at that has a recall.
They did not get in touch with me about my complaint!
So i will have a go at them tomorrow..
This is daylight robbery...
If they don’t give me a refund im going higher up the chain.
On the other note: because the unsure update Eurocharged fully reset my handheld and retuned the car from scratch and gave me the latest V7 upgrade for TOTALLY FREE.
Jus to clear this up that they are a company based across the pond and they help me out for face value and the dealer who is 10 miles from me and will have to face me risks my costum for 120£...
Im sure i will do a scene and never return there

I have free servicing with the car to make things more juicy...
That’s why i use them..till now.
So with free service aka(service pack) they cherge me 120 for a f...k update.
I drag them down the toilet for this

If you can travel, msl can do software updates at a fraction of the cost. Mb were quoting me 650 for updates and I think I had them all done for around 400 including the fuel to travel there and back. And you would get better customer service if anything was wrong.

Will be going next Tuesday!

Got in touch with Merc Head Office...
Strongly advice anyone with dealer problems just to get in touch with them after dealer ignorance.
After my chat with somebody over there got a pretty much instant callback from my local place (never returned my calls before that regarding the problem) who robbed me from 120£.
Got 2 options: 1st go back and they do some checks again (no thanks)
2nd: get a refund...
of course went with the refund.
20 minutes after that got a call from Merc Preston Dealership to get their services offered.
Fair enough anyway, but total loss of trust or any credit given to my local garage.
Possibly will go independent with my C63 and just use Preston with my second Merc until factory warranty expires.
