Just 4 years, had a BMW 330D for 10 years on the same battery with no problem, the battery on my GT40 was replaced after 15 years and that was 10 years ago and still going strong, surely they should last for more the 4 years.

Just been out in the car and the centre two red lights on the front parking sensor came on for no reason.

I fail to see why this problem worries you - your car is under warranty leave with dealer to fix ?

Thing is if no fault codes are showing on the STAR (which is what happened last time) they can't do anything.

Ask them to lend you a new battery, you could have a dead cell in yours.

They should of fitted a steering lock by now as they are so common. First port of call on a 204 non start in our workshop with your symptoms

Not even if it's proven to fix it?

Your problem will be getting the warranty company to allow it to be fitted as a test.

Got it back from the dealers, left it with them for 4 days to see if it produced the fault, you've guessed it, nothing showed up on STAR, they think it's either the steering lock or ingnition switch as members have suggested.

A question, if it is the steering lock failing, would the key still turn?

Had steering lock and switch replaced under warranty, car had been unused for a few days,tried to start the car this morning, nothing, dash lights on, steering unlocked yet nothing when turning the key to the start position, tried a few times, took key out, put it back in again and it started sraight away, very frustrating, don't know what to do now as nobody seems to have an answer.

If it were my car, I would try a new battery first. It won't last forever anyway - and the cold weather isn't ideal if it is weak already. 11V sounds low to me.

Has to be worth ruling out before getting too involved with other diagnostics and replacing parts.
