Can anyone identify my alloys?

Hi All,

I'm considering refurbishing my 18" 15 spoke alloys but before I do wanted to double check that they are original MB's. I've no reason to believe that they aren't but tbh haven't seem them anywhere else and from what I can ascertain weren't offered as standard fitment for W211 by MB

Have seen a similar 16 spoke version (C16) here:

WHEELS UK

But no amount of googling has brought up mine.

Anyone have any thoughts?

If genuine they will have a MB part number on the rear of the spokes.

not an oe wheel

Thanks Chris, I was beginning to suspect this was the case.:( The car's going in on Saturday to get some winter tyres so will double check for a part number on the reverse anyway but if not original I think I'll look to replace them with some that are.

The question now is, do I get these ones refurbished before selling them? I know they'd be easier to sell refurbished but not sure I would get back anymore for them after factoring in the cost to have them done.:dk:

Cheers,

If they are a decent aftermarket brand then maybe worth it otherwise I wouldnt bother as you would most likely not recover the cost of refurbishment. Other option is keep them for your winter tyres just to run during the winter months and get a set of genuine alloys for the summer.

Thanks, I had considered this aswell, but I would want to get these refurbished if I'm going to keep them on the car so that means paying for a refurb and another set:eek: Worth thinking about but starting to look expensive. Also would really prefer to go to original MB wheels.

I was originally thinking about buying some smaller wheels (16") for the winter tyres but again this would now be pricey as I'd want to swap out the 18's as well.

I think for the time being will just look to swap out what I have when I find a decent replacement and look at a second set for winter some time down the track.

Cheers,

So I've just been in to Kwik-Fit (they called earlier and offered to bring the appointment forward) to have winter tyres fitted. While there I had a look at the rear of the wheels. Turns out they are Mandrus Millenium 18X8.5J ET32 so a pretty decent make that are specially designed for MB. Might consider getting them refurbed and keeping them for winter tyres after all then looking for an OE set in the summer.

One other interesting point, whilst there I checked out the wear on the tyres coming off which have had approx 15K miles. All four were fitted at the same time, again by Kwik Fit. Three of them are Conti Sport Contact 3 and the other is a Sport Contact 2. I knew this as I had noticed shortly after they were fitted originally but wasn't concerned as price was same and didn't figure there would be much difference. Wrong!!! The 3 Sport Contact 3's have 4-5mm across centres and 3mm at the edge, the Sport Contact 2 is about shot with 2mm left across the tyre. Now when I come to change back in the summer I'll have to change 2 instead of one or have to put up with changing single tyres all the time. Couldn't believe the difference. Will definately be asking for a contribution for a replacement from Kwik Fit as I did ask for SC3's all round. Still have original receipt too.

Lesson learned. Also did a thorough check of the winter tyres to make sure all matching (Conti winter contact TS830P's). No worries this time :thumb:
