Will pick up a couple tmw. There is damage to the fins on the front of unit so may look into changing the whole unit.
Cheers for answering so quickly V V.

I will carry on bending your ear then!
Pigging phone doesn't want to load me a picture.
It was to the left of the pipe connected together with jubilee clips. May have to drag my lazy ass off sofa and fire up the laptop.
Possibly the condenser/ heat exchanger for the air con. Give it a gentle!!! clean with a pressure washer+ detergent [ hole it and you will lose all your aircon gas.]
ML350Cdi BE now replaced, E220 2013MY just for a bit.....
I would not advise using a wire brush, you could damage the fins and even pull a fin hard enough to hole where they are welded to the channels.
The gunk is good, soak it and leave it a while then rinse off with water from a normal hose will be enough........but maybe it's clean enough now, and hopefully in good condition.
To be fair it was more of a suede shoe wire brush not a stiff wooden handled thing and just used it to scrape the oily gunk off as it was pretty thick in places.
As for the loss of acceleration could it be the MAP sensor which is above the air pipe that goes across the top of the engine. As it's only intermittent surely if it was a leaky pipe somewhere it would be constant?
Times like this I wish I had a heated garage..
Would strip it all down and sell the bits. Taking things apart I am good, at its putting it all back together I have a problem with..
Haha! Yeah I was kidding. But I did push it. It lost acceleration once. At full temp this time? As I said before no rythme nor reason just went it feels like it? Going to take a look at leaky area today if I can be a*sed.
