Hi,
Apologies if this is in the wrong place but not sure where to put it???
I've had the keys shown below for ages but I really can't remember what cars they're from
I've had an A-class, C-class Coupe, CLK430 and another CLK430...Can anyone work out which cars they're from or whether I may be able to use any of them when my new C-class estate arrives in December?
Or am i just better off throwing them away now?
Thank you in advance for any help?
DJM

You will not be able to use them with any car other than the ones they were originally for. Mercedes keys cannot be reprogrammed...no matter what you have heard.

You could sell them on Ebay...for people looking for new casings.

OK, Thanks...I'll just get rid then. Thought I better ask for advice first :-)
Thanks for the quick reply!

For the record, 1 looks like the key I had with my W168 A Class, and 3 is the same design as my current R171 SLK's (so is probably from one of your CLKs).

And 2 for the C class coupe, since it would not have had boot opening (I think).

Hmmm, you have over £600 worth of keys there! Worthless to anyone but the current owners of course.

Three owners somewhere out there that have either had to fork out for new ones or have only one key :D

That's what I was thinking.

£600/700's worth of keys totally wasted :(

No good to anyone but the owners of said old vehicles - shame they didn't get passed on :wallbash:

Yeah, not sure how they got missed but I guess the buyers never asked either...

1. Remote with blade type key used on different models as long ignition was barrel type and had factory alarm and immobilizer fitted. It was installed on range from mid 90 (cars) up to 05-06 (vans)
2. Its a key as I would describe (MARK II) as first type of fobs was longer. This one was used on cars between 2000ish upto 2009 on vans. It was used to vehicles with instaled central locking in a boot, so Estates or chassis cab vans.
3. Its fob used in a same as above but used with cars where you could unlock boot from remote or Vito`s or panel van's Sprinters. (3rd buttom to opne third/back lock).

It is possible to code old keys but its costly and time consuming so its not cost effective and its MUCH cheaper to order new key. Possible to do only with dealership. DEALERSHIP ONLY.

Thanks for your info Allias...and everyone else.
You don't need to respond anymore as I will throw them away.

Or put up the reg numbers on here and see if any forum members now drive any of your old cars!!??

I'm not sure what the registrations were...I have private plates

Try to sell them on Ebay. Casing like to brake and yours are still good. You might get money for a couple drinks. :thumb:

Thanks Again Allias...I might try if i get a chance.

I just wondered if you kept the keys? I'd be interested in the A Class one assuming its in as good condition as it looks in the photo. I've just bought an A Class and the casing on one of the keys isn't very good.

Does anyone know if the A Class key casings can be swapped?

DJM do you still have key number 3?

I would like to change the case on my key and this could be perfect for that as long as the plastic and buttons are in good condition...
