I have recently bought a 2003 W215 and have just noticed a rust bubble on the leading edge of the sunroof. Although it has a full service history, problem is, one of the previous owners had this performed by a SAAB dealer so am I right in thinking this hs invalidated the warranty and I don't have a claim on MB?

You wont know til you try but sometimes MB dealers can raise this issue with Mercedes-Benz and agree to do some of the work under warranty and you pay for some. Think its called an esculabab agreement but my brain cant spell it :dk: and I think you need to have owned the car for a particular amount of time like 6 months or something.
Its worth giving it a go.

Hi there and welcome to the forum. You`ll need to own the car for the past 6 months before you can claim,by then it might be to late but I don`t know
When do you mean by performed?

Thank you... nice to be here :D

The service done by the SAAB dealer was some years ago and it's had a MB service since but my understanding was that to be covered by the MOBILO warranty, you needed to have a full MB service history?

Have had the car for four months now so I'll give it another couple of months and see where I get with MB.

Thanks

Don't expect too much joy from MB when you do try to claim - a search for "rust" here and on "t'other side" will throw up loads of threads from people like myself who have tried to claim on the supposed 30 year rust warranty - mainly with little or no success.

The dealer will take photocopies of the service book stamps, photos of the rust and paint thickness measurements, submit the claim to MB, nothing will happen for quite a while - I then got a call offering 10% goodwill contribution towards the £800+VAT estimate (from the local MB approved bodyshop) of the repair. A few small bubbles appearing along the bottom edge of both offside doors, plus brown discolouration on the front lip of both rear wheel arches, and they want £800+??!!

So, don't get your hopes up, but good luck anyway!

That kinda meets with my expectation so I'm not setting myself up to be dis-appointed.
