All Signed up, lets see if they take any notice :D

and the chances of him using it for anything other than toilet paper are?

Now now, the limit for a car towing a caravan will also probably be reduced and as a result they'll be even easier to cut up ;) :bannana:

and an ANPR can recognise a caravan when it sees one?

50 it is................:bannana:

Slim, in all honesty, but the Anti Road-Pricing petition that attracted more than 1.7m signatures certainly fired a warning shot across HMG's bows that caused them to understand the vote losing potential that their headlong rush into road-pricing has.

In the same vein, I'll be writing to my MP shortly suggesting that any support from him for the speed limit change will hasten his need to get a proper job come election time :)

I'll still overtake you, I'll have just covered my regi plates up and wear a balaclava and I'll drive as fast as I want whilst you lug around that box @ the back of your car :p

It just occurred to me that this proposal might have more to do with European Standardisation than making our roads safer. The EU may be trying to make 50 and 80 km/h as the standard speed limit for town and rural roads, respectively. These are roughly equivalent to 30 and 50 mph.
